What if.........!?

Day 3,713, 06:00 Published in Norway Norway by Zinitus

What if....

...Napoleon achieved a defining victory in Waterloo or Moscow? What if Hitler achieved an agreement with Lord Halifax, if not Churchill succeeded Chamberlain as Prime minister in 1940? Or more fascinating, Adolf becoming a painter instead? What if someone dropped The Bomb during the Cold War? And could a Norwegian viking king changed England in 1066?

Contrafactual history, or “virtual” history, or “hypothetical” history is becoming a method, among others, to better understand and reveal the underlaying and alternative factors which could made a difference. It`s also a controversial method and eagerly debated among historians. But In RL history it`s several occations of so called “tipping points”, where a small little alternative event could give a totally different aftermath and totally different history. And it also gives exciting novels as "1984" by George Orwell and "Fatherland" by Robert Harris.

Such things fascinates me, and during the time to come I want to make some articles with more or less creative speculations around “what if”. And I want to invite all you readers to give me ideas on issues to speculate on, to contribute in the debate, and counter suggest your own views and theories, on what could happens.

I have to point out, from my side this is not science, I do it for fun, but also to make a consciousness that history is not just a steady stream of predictable events. Sometimes unpredictable things does happen. Some of us do remember from history lessons the December 7th 1941 (Pearl Harbour), or September the 11th 2001. What if those days ended up as a normal day among all others…..?

And, what if……..

A famous image of Napoleon the first, founder of the mighty imperial dynasty of Bonaparte. His descendants has during the last two hundred years made an huge impact, not only in the empire of France, but the whole Europe as well. He is ancestor to current French Emperor Napoleon VI.

This is perhaps the most well known work done by the Austrian painter A.Hitler (1889-1964). He did his breaktrough as artist in the years before The Great War, and is the perhaps the most known name representing the new romantic style which occurred as a protest to the style of social realism from the beginning of 1920ties. This painting can now be shown in Der Kaiserliche Reichmuseum in Berlin.

Ehhhh.....! Not sure when and where the "tipping point" should have occured in this case.......
