What if.........!?

What if....
...Napoleon achieved a defining victory in Waterloo or Moscow? What if Hitler achieved an agreement with Lord Halifax, if not Churchill succeeded Chamberlain as Prime minister in 1940? Or more fascinating, Adolf becoming a painter instead? What if someone dropped The Bomb during the Cold War? And could a Norwegian viking king changed England in 1066?
Contrafactual history, or “virtual” history, or “hypothetical” history is becoming a method, among others, to better understand and reveal the underlaying and alternative factors which could made a difference. It`s also a controversial method and eagerly debated among historians. But In RL history it`s several occations of so called “tipping points”, where a small little alternative event could give a totally different aftermath and totally different history. And it also gives exciting novels as "1984" by George Orwell and "Fatherland" by Robert Harris.
Such things fascinates me, and during the time to come I want to make some articles with more or less creative speculations around “what if”. And I want to invite all you readers to give me ideas on issues to speculate on, to contribute in the debate, and counter suggest your own views and theories, on what could happens.
I have to point out, from my side this is not science, I do it for fun, but also to make a consciousness that history is not just a steady stream of predictable events. Sometimes unpredictable things does happen. Some of us do remember from history lessons the December 7th 1941 (Pearl Harbour), or September the 11th 2001. What if those days ended up as a normal day among all others…..?
And, what if……..
A famous image of Napoleon the first, founder of the mighty imperial dynasty of Bonaparte. His descendants has during the last two hundred years made an huge impact, not only in the empire of France, but the whole Europe as well. He is ancestor to current French Emperor Napoleon VI.
This is perhaps the most well known work done by the Austrian painter A.Hitler (1889-1964). He did his breaktrough as artist in the years before The Great War, and is the perhaps the most known name representing the new romantic style which occurred as a protest to the style of social realism from the beginning of 1920ties. This painting can now be shown in Der Kaiserliche Reichmuseum in Berlin.
Ehhhh.....! Not sure when and where the "tipping point" should have occured in this case.......

we cant change the past, but we can change the future, if we learn from mistakes...
But what if we could....? 😉
Good idea, looking forward to read the future articles
There is a concept that we live in a multi-verse, where universes coexist, but have different timelines.
Here's a puzzling story about a mysterious visitor to Japan, who dissipated soon after arriving!
I myself like everything that is somehow mataphisycal & out of the ordinary.
Looking forward of reading your next article!
❤
P.S. This here is my newest writing: erepublik.com/en/article/2662061
It features a great video & the Youtube channel is also displayed, might interest you as well!
Votes & endorses are welcomed!
What if...more thoughtful and interesting articles such as this one were at the top of every feed in eRepublik?
Yes, better then moralistic preaching with nothing to back it up.

what if all the homo sapiens died 30k ago and instead the neanderthals survived
That would be a VERY different "alternative history"! 🙂
1 - Napoleon actually wasn't defeated at Moscow, it was his overall campaign strategy that doomed him
2 - A victory at Waterloo wouldn't have helped France anyway, even to gain momentum, as at Waterloo he battled only a part of the allied forces
3 - With Britain out of the war, Nazi Germany would have been defeated anyway, though it would have taken more time and resources
4 - With A.H. on the artistic path, someone more talented and reserved would take his place, as he just rode the revanchist wave
5 - The nuclear powers have conducted more than 2,000 nuclear explosions during the Cold War
6 - They would still have shitty weather and cuisine
You're welcome!

napoleon was doomed the moment he decided to invade mother russia
^ has a point
You have much good conciderations in Your reviews, but....
...what if A.H get admission to Fine Art Academy in Vienna, and dedicated himself more to art than politics. In what ways could your points 3-6 been different then?
What if eNorway was still a super power?
It would be more boring for all other eNations then.... 😃

What if admins of eRepublik start work on this game?

Thematically, a quite interesting article
You started nicely, as I was beginning to read and getting the vibe, I was expecting more and deeper analysis of "What If" theories, but you failed to go into details.
.I have also noticed a small error which has occurred - A.Hitler (1889-1964)?
Anyway vote and endorse
But what if A:H died in 1964 as an respected painter. How could the 20th century history have been then.... 😉
In later articles I hope to reveal some ideas......
Thank you for Your vote end endorse! 🙂
Why A. Hitler would have died in 1964 and not earlier or later?
Where did you hear or get such a idea? What's the catch?
Hypothetically, a lot of things in the human history would have happened different - if...
1964 is a guess, as good as 1954 or 1974. Or 1945! I picked the year 1964 because the setting in the novel "Fatherland" is settled in the time just before Der Fuhrer`s 75 years anniversary.
And the we could discuss other alternative time of death. A.H. was a sick man when he comitted suicide in 1945, but one consideration is that his sickness was a counsequence of his temper, and press and stress resulting from the struggeling war. But could this sickneses occured if lived a more comfortable life?
We`ll never know.....
