The new media display
Ilene Dover
I think I've finally worked out why eRepublik Labs changed the Top News display algorithms.
Here is how the media looked from my home screen right before publishing:
And here is how the media would have looked last month:
Does one look "busier" than the other?

So vote buying is much more valuable now.
Is that Platos side job?

eRepublik: 3

ah. good point.
And now your article is #1 🙂
I'm still skeptical with this update, on one hand we will see most interesting article longer but in an other hand if you dont have enough contacts, your article will disappear from the top 5.
I'm skeptical too. I actually like this update - you don't have to shout for 3 hours to make top news anymore.
But... The cynical side of my personality is strong. Why would eRepublik Labs change something over 9 years old unless there was a gain somewhere?
bad boy 😁
proving publishing is pointless an article at a time?
Like you prove commenting is sometimes worthless one comment at a time?
SOMETIMES, wtf, damn if you are truly dense....
This new algorithm has killed my articles which rely on building up some viewership the first day then getting top 5 the next which then boosts it up and keeps it strong, but now it is a gamble to whether I even reach top 5.
you don't need to blame the admins this time, the sfp is very fickle, best go back to them if you want votes from them ...
I am still getting some SFP love. But this was happening before I left the SFP. I can never go back. Not after Jimmy Cincinnati!
please elaborate, Jimmy has some issues with honesty, and with just a few other players is able to ruin what otherwise might be a fun party to party with
@Ya Girl, can you explain what you mean?
new media display sucks
I still happy, two of my articcles made the top five of the econ articles 🙂
before that place was empty.
now it looks like i king of the econ module 🙂
One of the worst changes in a long time due to several reasons. One of the them is that it is called news for a reason...
I like that the time factor is factored in non-linear: it weighs more the closer to the publication moment, fading away exponentially.
That means that every new article has a chance to reach top 5 right after it's publication, and it's up to the content / the public's appreciation to hang in-there for a while longer.
That's what I like too. Plus, "interest" articles with a lot of comments rank high, even if nobody votes it. A reason to engage in discussions even! 🙂
Everything done lately has been cosmetic and yet it makes you wonder just what Admin is up to...?
