Reconstructed Nov. Dec. Finances - Second in a Trilogy
olivermellors
For the 1 month period ending December 5, the rough budget had include😛
- tax revenues of about $220,000
- Mpp expenses of about $110,000
- Send to the Ministry of Finance $200,000
- opening cash was about 200,000 and ending balance was therefore expected to be about $90,000
It would be good to have a government report of actual performance. Since we never get one, I thought to do an exercise in reconstruction.
We did goo😛
-Government tax revenues were about 300,000 (100k better than expected).
- Mpp were a bit higher than expected at 130,000
-we sent the MOF a lot more money namely 500,000 (with another 350k on the way)
- ending cash balance was much higher than expected namely 390,000 (of which 350k is now in transit to MOF).
- We burned gold to issue 500,000 currency.

If these number are correct they can help to forecast cash requirements for the future. If they are wrong, people can make errors. It would be good to have government inform us of the correct numbers so that informed discussions can occur. Admittedly this has not been the practice so this is a gentle nudge rather than a complaint.

You're aware of the large donation that was made to the treasury by a departing player?
funky: I'm not aware of much at all... I'm trying to nudge government to provide periodic financials so that we have good information. Do tell about that donation...

Umbra Bellator quits the game and donates an unquantified pile of gold to the country during the month in question. Presumably this constitutes a chunk or the bulk of the gold we turned into currency. Just wondering .... what connection do you make with the article's point : government should be encouraged to provide coherent and regular financial reporting?
I think that the politics of this game have been reduced to such an extent that the math has followed. No social programs, no infrastructure programs. no direct MU funding; there's only MPPs to sign and cash for COs.
At this point I think that all we can reasonably expect is that if it looks like our tax and other revenue (i.e. donations) aren't going to be enough to pay for those items that Congress will notice and make one of two decisions: slow down spending or try to increase revenues.
Sure, it would be nice to have budget updates and reports. It'd also be nice to have social programs, infrastructure programs and direct MU funding. I just don't expect any of that anymore.
Always good to have people watching and reporting on the government's actions.
