One year in eRepublik!

These days a year ago I joined eRepublik and started my newspaper "Northern Light" It has been a funny and entertaining year, and I have met a lot of new digital friends.


One year ago.....!


I've always been interested in politics and history, and I have therefore been more searching for that kind of game than traditional war- and shooting-games. My favorite games have been those like Civilization and Total War, where you can play both on the political and economic strings. Gradually I began to get a little tired of these and searched online to find other interesting angles on political online games. After some attempts and failing, I found the eRepublik, and I have not regretted my joining to this game!

When I arrived a year ago, there was a eNorway, which I now know in retrospect, maybe was a little stagnated society, there was little fluctuation in the political landscape, and party structures was about the same as it had been for several years before. Perhaps also the politicians then become a little tired of the standstill? I do not know! But what I know, is that I was very well received and given tasks in the same moments I signed in my first party, the then Norwegian Green Party.


During the summer things started to happen! We resigned the alliance Nebula, and as newly appointed MoFa - after only three months - it was the same as being thrown into deep water in intention to learn swimming (thanks for that Joshua – I DO appreciated the challenge!).

Later in the autumn we experienced the Chilean invasion, and it was an intense, heavy and uncertain time, but we managed to set them back, and to get control of our own country. It showed that when we stand together on one common goal, also a small eNation, with the help of good neighbors, can master major feats.
As Churchill would have said it; "It was our finest hour."

We must still remain alert and united against unwanted elements with malicious intent. Last six months we have had some immature Chilean lads in the backyard, tomorrow it could be someone else. But we can manage it, it has the past half year effort shown us. This is our nations best value, we are united toward external enemies! But we shall also have so much self confidence in ourselves that we can afford to have an active political life with different parties, visions, opinions and debates. It is after all, what is the meaning of this game, I think!.

We have recently seen flexibility in the political party structure, we are not so stagnated anymore. Political competition is good, and I want more of it! I am also learned a lot of, later on, to being a member of Yanisin and Hans Erik Governments. Thank you for the experience! We also see a greater activity and width of the media activity. We are on the right path. Let`s hope the next year(s) continue the same way.
