Olympic stories: weekend report

Day 1,714, 01:04 Published in Belgium Belgium by Cooke4444
Okay, it has started! A nice weekend with a beautiful opening ceremony and a medal for Belgium.

Friday, there was already a world record in archery by a South-Korean with sight problems (!). South Korea also broke the team world record.

The opening ceremony was not as spectacular as Beijing, but it was all "very British" a.k.a. very good. In case you missed it:

The industrial revolution brought us the Olympic rings this time.

Rowan Atkinson in an extraordinary musical performance.

Let the Games begin!

Saturday: medal time for Belgium

Charline van Snick

The medal in judo made me realize one thing: how I react when I watch judo.

Sadly we also saw that some people rather buy their medal than they earn it...

At least Uran's bank account will be happy.

Sunday: Not quite for Belgium, Holland gets a deserved gold medal

In the pouring rain, the best female cyclist in ages beats her British and Russian opponents.

Belgian Ilse heylen only just lost in her fight for the bronze medal. No equal performance as in Athens.

Meanwhile, in the swimming pool, world records are constantly being broken, despite the lack of rubber suits.
