Officer Spotlight - Rike Tosh

Day 1,540, 13:34 Published in USA USA by blondeninja

This is my first officer spotlight; hope you enjoy!!

Recently I was interviewed by Rike Tosh for one of his officer spotlight articles, after doing this interview and looking at some of his previous publications I realized that no one has interviewed him for an article, so I sent some questions his way and got some great responses. I will try my best to cover them all and do him justice in such a novice article! Meet Rike Tosh!!

CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP

Ok, ok, simmer down.

Rike is a Captain and CO of our 12th Training Company, he has been in TC for nearly six months now and signed up for his awesome job in June of 2011. he joined primarily for the cookies, but also because “I decided to join a Military Unit during the invasion of the U.S. that was happening at the time.” (personally i think he just made that up to hide his craving for cookies and love of cake). Either way we’re glad he joined, however it was nice to find out what his avie really is; Saturn's moon Titan, one of our other officers believed it to be an egg and I thought it was some fruit.

His Avie:

An Egg:

Uncanny resemblance huh?

Anywho, our conversation then turned from eggs and the like, back to his beginnings in the Training Corps. Now, as we know, USTC has the best community so naturally we help teach train and mentor to the best of our ability. In Rike’s case he was taught by Ms.Hawk “If I had to narrow it down, I'd probably say [Major] IstltHawkeye, she was, and in some ways, my mentor.” He also mentioned a few other Senior officers; Colonel Hijame Hitoshi, Lieutenant General Synesi and former General Morrigan Alexandros. Most of these exceptional officers have also taught me as well, did I mention we have an awesome community/staff?

As TC officers we have a lot of responsibilities, from managing and teaching new comers to taking a job in our staff offices, and other such departments. Rike is a Company Commanding Officer and the head the Department of Media (DOM). And through all these jobs and positions we impact, well, everything. When I asked Rike about this he felt that through his position as DOM head he had the most impact, as well as “[Being] helpful to new trainee's and [being] able to help my fellow Training Corps members in any way I could.” This is good; having officers feel like they matter (because they do), we all play our part. Rike rattled off our top leaders (double positive eh?) when he was talking about who had the most impact, personally I feel he was more indecisive that anything, hehe.

However I do think he reached some sort of descion in the end, actually no, he stuck with Morrigan and Synesi, well can’t go wrong there I guess as they both worked very hard to keep this system running and we all admire all the effort they put in!

Throught my time in TC I’ve met some great people, from our current General to the dedicated Joe Alpha (who left a while back, but I still remember). But we all have our few close ‘buds’ or as I call them friends, this was a difficult topic to cover with Rike as he doesn’t have any!

I kid, I kid, he has quite a few, actually “Kijiman, vrpanch, and HH. Hawkie”, which makes 4 if i can count (you never know these days). Oh and not to forget “Blondninja and Potato are also growing on me rather quickly.” I’m honored to be considered for such an special list. Unless these are all Rike multies made to seem like he has more friends, maybe I’m a Rike multi! maybe you are! It’s a conspiracy!!!! Red scare V2 (or Rike scare).

When asked about his best times in the USTC Rike responded by saying that late night IRC chats are the best. This is usually quite true, the crazy things that have ‘gone down’ on IRC make it a very entertaining place to be; like the time me and Kijiman kicked each other at the SAME SECOND considering the millisecond lag and the like that is quite amazing. Well back to our spotlight, Rike, he also mentioned that some of the games we do in the TC are quite fun like RISK game that was concluded recently. We’ve held many games such as a weapon alchemy one which was also quite entertaining. Here at the USTC we’re finding new and innovative ways to have FUN!

While having fun we do all the nitty gritty things that keep the USTC running; roll call, reports, tracking and teaching, the list goes on. Everyone has a certain part of all that work that they enjoy the most, for Rike he says it’s all the people, because of his wonderful response I’ll just include the whole of it!

“The People. it's really the only reason I play this game anymore. The Training Corps community has got to be one of, if not the best community in the game. They're my family, and I'd do anything to help them.”

Ain’t that just heart warming?! I’d have to agree with that response, and I hope, actually I know, that all officers agree with me as well. He also said that “I wouldn't change a thing. The Training Corps is the finest military unit in the eWorld.” when asked what he would change, again another fine statement if I do say so myself. Rike want’s to climb the ladder all the way to the top with his job, I know many of us share this ambition to achieve greatness. I wish him luck in this endeavor to become the CJCS one day.

In wrapping up I asked him a ‘bonus’ question, something I think we’ve all been wondering

“Why is an army called an infantry if you have to be over 18 to get in?”

“I'm not sure. But I always like to imagine a great battle going on, and then some soldier crying out ' Infantry is here! ', and then a group of infants in battle gear crawl over a hill into gunfire, barb'd wire and bombs. Is that morbid? I never really said they died, so I suppose not.“

That’s as good a response as any, I just hope this doesn’t end up in a fit of “Dead - Baby” Jokes filling the comments, actually I’d like to see that! So leave some great jokes int he comments and I’ll include the best one(s) in my next article!

I asked Rike a total of 12 Questions and got some great answers, I did my best to do him justice throughout the article, this is my first attempt and such a in depth write. I hope you enjoyed it, please vote and comment!
