My Day with the Pres... Secretary of State

Day 735, 18:50 Published in USA USA by Serendipitous

Today we have a charming individual, the delightful Cerb. Cerb has a long list of accomplishments, those being...

Congressman x6 (Final Term on the 26th)
Former Flying Unicorn Squadron Director
USWP Chief of Staff (Since August)
Former Deputy Secretary of Defense
Seal Team Six Member (Former Platoon CO)
Former Home Guard Platoon CO
Former Mobile Infantry Platoon CO
Former USWP PAC Director
Former Secretary of Citizen Affairs
Former Ambassador to Romania

So you get the picture. A laundry list of occupations. Cerb was born on day 493, and an upstanding citizen hence. Lately however, he's been working as the Secretary of State for Josh Frost.

Essentially Cerb, he's just better looking.

Serendipitous: "So tell me Cerb, what is it exactly you do in the State Department?"

Cerb: "Well, I subscribe to the Harrison Richardson school of thought on the Secretary of State position. I call it that because, during my time in scrabman's Cabinet, HR sculpted the SoS role into a highly-active, public position that had great accountability and a lot of foreign policy influence. I interpret the position to be the chief foreign policy advisor to the President, and as such, I take it very seriously. Because this is a global game, events are unfolding even as I sleep, so I'm constantly reading ambassadorial reports, having IRC chats during graveyardhours, and chatting with Josh about our official policy as often as I can. I've tried to keep the public as informed as possible, although obviously many of our activities blend with the CIA and can only be disclosed after-the-fact."

A nice little summing-up about the position itself. In essence, Cerb is the foreign policy guru, conversing with officials during all hours and keeping an eye on our Ambassadors to other countries.

Serendipitous: "Who is your role model for this position? Or eRepublik in general, if you prefer?"

Cerb: "Although I have several diplomats and politicians who I consider fascinating figures, I don't attempt to use them as role models because I try to avoid the common fallacy of comparing eRepublik to real life too often. In-game, I still seek out advice from close friends who have been here longer than I have, such as scrabman and Josh Frost."

So essentially, Cerb applies the same thought that many do. Real life and eRepublik for the most part are completely unrelated.

Serendipitous: "What was your reaction when you saw that the United Kingdom lost Nordjylland?"

Cerb: "As a patriotic eAmerican, I am glad to see any circumstance which results in a decline in power and influence in the United Kingdom. Their treachery and the assistance given to our enemies during the US invasion was (and is) inexcusable."

So, Cerb hates the UK as much as everyone else. Who knew? 😛

I wouldn't blame him, frankly.

Serendipitous: "The crumbling of PEACE comes as a great morale booster to all of us. As our chief foreign officer, what do you think will become of the former member nations on a global scale?"

Cerb: "Their individual fates depend on their own proactive approach to foreign policy, and the regional alliances they may/may not already have. Game history plays a part as well, in the sense that Germany is unlikely to pursue EDEN membership given their tumultuous history with ATLANTIS. All that being said, the U.S. State Department is making a strong, concerted effort to talk with all ex-PEACE nations and facilitate a brighter geopolitical picture. This is arguably the busiest that the State Department has been in some time. Instead of facing a relatively-stable New World, we find ourselves in a time of highly-fluid diplomatic relations that change daily."

Another nice bit of information on what the State Department actually does. If you look closely, he's already spent long nights pondering where the phrase "highly-fluid diplomatic relations" can be used. 😛 Really though, his point is easily understood. Former PEACE countries will not seek asylum in other global alliances.

:rotocafe:

Serendipitous: "So, our interview is coming to a close. Anything you'd like to tell my meager number of subscribers?"

Cerb: "Thanks for taking the time to interview me, Serendipitous. To the rest of the eUSA, please subscribe to government papers so that you know what's going on in the world. A more-informed citizenry will help us avoid our pitfalls in the past and lead us bravely into the future. In the words of Edward R. Murrow... "Good night, and good luck".

A big thanks to Cerb! Remember to subscribe to DoD Orders!
