Libertarian Party Presidency

Day 420, 03:43 Published in USA USA by Publius
An Introduction
I’m interim party president of the Libertarian Party, a three term congressman, member of the Economic Council, manager of three businesses, a Captain serving in the US National Guard, and a three time hard worker. I’m very active in the eUSA forums—having sponsored many successful law proposals and given my analytical insight on almost every other.

I’m also a Libertarian. I believe in free minds and free markets, to the extent the game allows.

Assessment and Platform
One of the things I like about this game is that we’ve managed to avoid hardcore politicking. For most people, the party serves as a badge on their profile—one of the few ways they can express their personality or political leanings. Within congress, I haven’t witnessed party line voting or bullying by any of the political parties.

We don’t have very active forums and we don’t have gifting buddies or a wellness service. Others might view this as a problem to be fixed—I view this as inevitable in a party of individualists.

Don’t take this to mean I think our party ought to be completely inactive. Emerick started some great projects and I look forward to continuing them.
-The Libertarian Bulletin has a lot of potential as a rallying point for Libertarians. I’ll be using it to post campaign platforms for this upcoming election, and I hope to write a couple articles over the course of my term.
-Congressional questionnaires were useful gauges of candidates’ understanding of the game dynamics and often served as effective distillations of an individual’s ideology.

I will use one of my greatest strengths—activity in this game—to aid our party. I will set aside time to respond to inquiries from party members and the public and I will send an introductory message citizens that have just earned enough experience points to join a party. I’m not going to push our party or relentlessly spam others—it’s not in our tradition and I don’t like doing it.

Conclusion
Let me be clear: I do not support the merging of our party with any others. Our party simply has little to gain through merger. If another party wants to grow, they can do through courting new citizens or party transfers, but respect the sovereignty of the Libertarian Party.
