The last month was awesome, and it seems you guys agree! I am very thankful to have won the nomination so decisively and I’m ready to get going on this next term! LET’S DO THIS!

So, I have said since last term that we need a deeper bench of power players in the Feds. We spent the last term laying some really good groundwork by drumming up a lot of activity and drawing in some new players. Now that we have the activity going and have restructured a couple of things, we need to buckle down and get serious with training people up and pushing them forward.

Not everyone in this game wants to be President (including me), but I believe everyone in this party has a goal of some sort related to national prominence or service. You all have entrusted me with leading for another term and here’s how I want to use it-

1. I want to break down some of the walls between leadership and the party. First of all, like half of our active membership is in leadership, either because they are currently serving or they are all-stars worthy of eternal access to all things. Given that the goal is to bring the other half ‘up to snuff’, breaking down some walls is an obvious first step. The entire party will be privy to the daily briefings and seeing how the sausage is made. How you respond to the sausage-making process will help us see if you have what it takes to make your own sausage. I’m saying sausage a lot. Sausage.


2. I want you to be a media powerhouse. Leaders have to write and communicate. They just have to. When they don’t, people call them names and don’t want to give them another chance to lead. This is a social game and being good at communicating is critical. Maybe you don’t have those skills yet- We will help you. Maybe you have skills but no inspiration- We will help you. Maybe you don’t think it’s important at all- You’re wrong. Let us help you.

We set an ambitious media schedule last term and this term will be no different. We need our future national and party leaders to be good communicators and develop good habits when it comes to constructing and pushing content and ideas, whether it’s in articles, on the forum, on a radio show or through pm’s.


3. I want you to realize you are already a leader just by being active. Let’s get you to the next level! Last month we started setting some wheels in motion to help you refine your project-management skills: you come up with an idea and we will do what needs doing to help make it happen. This is mostly related to games and activities, but that’s an excellent place to start. Coming up with an idea and rallying the support to execute it and then seeing it all the way through is what leadership is all about. We didn’t fully kick this off last month, but I think this might be the most important thing we can do in the Feds to help our future national leaders. This is a small thing that scales up nicely. If you’re not interested in games and party programs are more your speed, you will absolutely get your chance to make stuff happen.





How we measure success with these objectives:

Fruitful conversations in Daily Briefings between members and leaders
A noticeable increase in media output from Fed members (unofficial media)
At least one successful launch of a member-originated idea/project
An increase in sign-ups for Congress (this should be competitive)
An increase in Feds seeking positions in the party and nationally

I want to end this term with a handful of Feds poised for bigger, better things. I want our current new people who have been given a chance nationally to really flourish with our party-wide support. I want our sitting old-timers to feel comfortable with a new generation of Feds moving in. I want us to grow and keep moving forward so we can become the fully dominant party we are meant to be for the foreseeable future.

I am very excited about this month. We set a really good tone last month and we’re on a solid trajectory. I look forward to working with all of you and getting more of your input on the day to day running of the party. I think your involvement this month will give us the clearest possible look at where you are in your development as a player and help you find what interests you the most.
