Double Feature

Day 3,245, 15:23 Published in Australia Canada by Thedillpickl

Hi Kids!

Do theaters have double features any longer? I've been to the movies about three times in the last ten years and those were not voluntary. Odd because I used to go all the time, it was a favorite weekend thing to do. $5 movie ticket, another $5 for the "ultimate" buttered popcorn bucket and "bottomless" drink cup. What a way to spend a rainy afternoon.

I present the following two shorts for your viewing pleasure.

Australia Stronk

Hungary is portrayed by the leopard which attacks some Australian hog farmers. Then the Peruvians intimidate the poor Aussies at the local water hole. From where no one knows, an oblisk appears and inspires Australia to become fierce wariors. Next time at the water hole Peru gets their asses kicked.

Open The Pod Bay Door

My first REAL computer was an Atari 800XL. (w00t!) I did have a lot of fun with it (frogger, pack man, dig-dug) and learned some too (BASIC , DOS commands, file structure using Atari 1010 cassette drive).

There was no provision to "name" that computer or the MS/DOS machine that followed. I graduated to my first (what I would call) real computer, MS/Windows 3.1 with a couple floppies (5.5 & 3.25) and 8 inch color monitor! Windows wanted a name. I named it HAL-1000. The next two successive PCs were HAL-2000 and HAL-3000. My killer laptop was HAL-4000 and netbook was HAL-Junior. Currently all are retired or DOA in some pile.

I'm using an Android tablet presently. They don't have the character to be a "HAL" computer. I understand how Dave feels about HAL not letting him in the pod bay. Computers today have their problems but go back 25 years. IRQ settings and I/O port conflicts, memory conflicts and where the hell is the DIP switch on that damn printer!

I figure if I make it to HAL-9000 we're all doomed.
