WE GOING TO THE MOVIES

Remember when I said I was working on fun stuff to make this a place where people want to be? On Thursday, the SFP and everyone else who wants in can join us as we watch Ghost in the Shell. Well, techniquely Rambo: First Blood can still win out, the voting will end on Wednesday so get in there! I'll be streaming on Smashcast, formerly known as Hitbox, just in case someone decides to get prissy over movie night streaming. I kind of hate rabbit so I'll be avoiding it. Let me give you guys a quick run down on what each movie is!

Ghost in the Shell(1995)
I sort of debated putting this particular poster up because of the reporting police, but this one actually looks pretty good. Ghost in the Shell is the hit film based on a manga series. The film is a sci-fi, set in the near future. Basically now there are these mechanical bodies and limbs which people can have. Hell, people can completely change their bodies into new mechanical ones. Furthermore these bodies can be connected to the Internet by a mechanical casing called the cyberbrain. People call the original soul that inhabits the new mechanical body to be called the "ghost", and the body the "shell".

The plot centers around Motoko Kusanagi, the squad leader of the Public Security Section 9. She's a mass production cyborg lady with super enhanced body parts. A hacker known as the Puppet Master incites the squad's delving into the political intrigue and lies behind the Japanese government, all while exploring the themes of self identity in a technological world. It's pretty deep shit.

The movie is considered one of the greatest anime films of all time, and is known for it's really beautiful visuals by mixing CGI and cel animation. It also has an amazing musical score that both combines modern instrumentation with traditional Japanese sounds. It's also one of the biggest inspirations of the Wachowskis, who made the Matrix. Basically the film is super amazing and it had fifty million adaptations and pseudo sequels. This includes the terrible 2017 film starring Scarlett Johansson, which was crap not because of any casting issues, but because it's a stereotypical amnesia revenge plot. Also "muh individuality".

First Blood
I don't think there needs to be much of an introduction to Rambo, but in case you're like me and haven't seen it, First Blood is an action movie released in 1982, and the first in the Rambo series. It stars Sylvester Stallone and is based on a book by the same name. The movie was originally criticized, but became an influence on the action genre and is now seen as a cult film. It also has the most hilarious sequels now that we look back on it(ayy lmao mujahideen).

The plot follows the drifting veteran John Rambo. After the harrowing experience at Vietnam he's basically become a drifter. He goes to meet an old comrade, who recently died of Agent Orange exposure. This worsens his already bad mental state, and when confronted and abused by small town police, he goes off. The story follows the ensuing manhunt and confrontations Rambo has. Please join us on movie night this Thursday at 8PM Central Time on the SFP Discord to better coordinate. We have some other news that I'll bring up real quick.

The Internationale Continues
The work on the eInternationale continues! I'm still getting more people into the channel and trying to convince people to post their articles on it.

Training Grounds Subsidies
Right now we're working on some new subsidies for training grounds, similar to BU2SU. It'll be run by Frank, and I'll make the forms. Hype!
The SFP is a really fun party and I hope you'll join us to vote in the coming elections by joining the SFP. Get in on our Discord, shown below!
