Join the new world

It`s a long time since the last “A talk with”, and now I want to revive the column again!

Erepublik is a game with possibilities to play the political game through elections and political parties. Unfortunately we do not exploit this opportunity too often! As you all perhaps know I am an political animal who like the political competition, I have also in earlier articles called for more electoral campaigns and more candidates to compete the offices.

This month we do have a situation I like, we do have two candidates to the office for Country President, the incumbent M. de Ruyter (from Teknokratene) and hans erik (Kvakksangerne). Therefore I will use this “A talk with” to explore the candidates, what they want to do and prioritize in the next presidential period, and find the differences between them. Hopefully this will make an engangement in the electorate this time. And perhapse give us some debate in the commentary threads. Dear Readers; Be prepared!



Q1: Let us start with eNorwegian history, since you are both veterans in this country and have known a lot of CP`s; Point out one legendary eNorwegian Country President in your opinion, and why him or her?

hans erik:
"Yes, unfortunately I keep forgetting much of the history, even the one I lived through. I didn't always get what was going on back then.
But the name that pops into my mind is Salve. He was the president when I first joined way back in 2008, so he have a good place in my heart.
And from what I can read and hear about him he did a lot of good stuff."

MdR:
"That would be Ursidae Polar. A great guy, president and personal friend. I first met him when I was CP of eNL and was chosen as Supreme Commander of EDEN, a unilateral organisation that rules back then. We made Norway the primary force to attack eUK, which was an ally of Poland, the biggest force in our enemy alliance. That was a very busy, but also a very fun time."

Q2: Then I want you to tell us a little about yourself, and why you do want to candidate as CP this time?

hans erik:
"I am an experienced and long time politician these days. I was thinking for a while I should candidate around this time, so I put myself up for this month.
I feel there are things I can contribute with, and also its fine with some competition as I saw MDR running for another term."

MdR:
"What's their to tell? I'm rl Dutch, a father of 2 young boys aged 6 and 8. I live in the province of Zeeland in a very small village, only 200 inhabitants. I'm also their villagecouncil and member of a Christian political party the SGP. I live close to the sea and we have the most sun hours of our country."

Q3: What is the main challenges for eNorway by now, as you see it?

hans erik:
"The main challenge of this game is that its dying, the challenge for eNorway is that it might die faster than the game. 😛

I am not sure its very solvable, but we sort of lost the groove. I don't see new players starting this game with the ambition of becoming something bigger
and having the patience to wait and keep trying."

MdR:
"As eNorway our main challenge is to keep our small community alive and thriving, which isn't easy."

Q4: And what is your visions?

hans erik:
"eNorway isn't doing that bad i think. We have some new people here who are still active. I hope we could maybe do something to bring some more activity back, but keeping eNorway from going under is the most important thing, and keeping the players from leaving the game is the most productive thing we can do."

MdR:
"And because of that (ref. MdR`s answer on Q3 - editors remark) we always need to be on the look for players that could become an asset to our nation. Since we don't get many new players from rl Norway we welcome foreign players to seek our citizenship."

Q5: What will be most important for you, as CP, to do in the next period, what issues will you prioritize?

hans erik:
"I think being active with having some articles out and so on.
We should see if there are still ways of encouraging new and older players to be more active with whatever interest them in this game."

MdR:
"The most important thing in the next period will be to keep our nation safe, as always. Therefore we need to keep our friends close, so when some nation would try to AS on us they get repelled real quick. Luckily eNorway has many good friends in the e-world."

Q6: With you as CP, describe your foreign policy! For instance, will we continue the training wars with Finland or will we see other perspectives?

hans erik:
"I will continue the TW with Finland.
In general I think eNorways neutrality or allegiance is a bit unclear, but the the truth is that is what works the best for us.
So hopefully that won't be an issue in the near future (an issue of war between our neighbors or stuff like that)."

MdR:
"Ofcourse we want to prolongue our TW with Finland, as long as it's beneficiarry to both our nations. Ofcourse I'd like us to make a AS opurselves to some far away place, but that's sadly not very realistic, so it will stay a future dream."

Q7: What qualities do you look for in the choice of ministers, and how do you want your Government to work? (And perhaps you can whisper us some names?)

hans erik:
"Looking for someone who can do the job, and someone who like to contribute and can be active. If anybody wants to be a part they can send me a Message."

MdR:
"Independance of mind and loyalty to eNorway are the most important qualities for any member of any government in my opinion. I'd like to cooperate with all active players our nation, and hope some new players get political approval so they can join our cabinet."





Q8: What is the most positive thing to say about your counter candidate?

hans erik:
"M. de Ruyter is an active player, and he has done a good job this and previous months with communicating, atleast when it comes to military module and the RWs. He has been a loyal citizen and politician who has had eNorwegians interest at heart,
So ! don't think its a very bad thing if he wins this election. 😉"

MdR:
"I've known Hans-Erik as a respectable member of our society, and an excellent minister of finance. I can truely say I have nothing but fondness for him."

Q9: And the final question: Why should we choose you, what are the benefits with YOU as CP?

hans erik:
"I am active and often online here, I know the game mechanics and systems very well. I will work on finding ways of make eNorway work for all its players.
I am not promising very much though, but I do promise to make some effort at least."

MdR:
"As CP I benefit from a long standing experience from my 19th previous terms as CP in which many things happened.
