A talk with: MoFa Eris Caelestis - Our voice abroad!

Day 2,992, 01:02 Published in Norway Norway by Zinitus

Last weekend, by coincidence, I met our MoFa on official duty on a karakoke bar Cultural Eve Arrangement in the eNorth Korean Embassy here i eOslo. In the pause I saw it as an appropriate occasion to have "A talk With"-interview with our voice abroad; Eris Caelestis!

Northern Light (NL): Hello Eris - Busy times these days?
Eris: Busy IRL, in game hasn’t been too crazy lately.

NL: The obligatory first question: Tell us about yourself and your life, both the real one and the erepublikan.

Eris: IRL I am studying civil and environmental engineering. I love babysitting my one year old nephew. My favourite activities are hiking and knitting.
I started playing eRepublik back in 2009, and quit after over a year when they introduced eRepublik Rising. I have been in congress several times and was President one month. Back then we spent a lot of time in competition between the political parties, and there were lots of problems with multies. Since I came back I’ve been in congress, and this is my second month as Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Environmental engineering is the future, in opposite to....

NL: You have proven to be a significant foreign minister in the current government. Can you tell us about your job and how you exercise it?

Eris: At the beginning of each presidential term I send out a congratulations to the new presidents of our allies and introduce our government for the month. When we plan on having a battle I get in touch with our allies so that we can coordinate their support. Occasionally I am contacted by other countries or their ambassadors. I have a lot of help from older players in eNorway who have good relationships with citizens in other countries.

NL: How strong is the attitudes internationally, toward eNorway, considering the MTO and PTO situation?

Eris: We have had a lot of support from our allies. Many countries agree that it is unacceptable what the Chilean MU did.

NL: In fact of the situation - which countries should we strengthen our relationship towards, in future?

Eris: Some of the smaller countries were very helpful in aiding us in our recent battles, such as Israel, Australia, and Czech Republik, and they also face similar problems to ours. USA and Russia have also been helpful, and of course Sweden and Finland have been very supportive. Hopefully we can help them in return if the time comes.

Foreign politics requires deep analysis - who`s friends and who`s enemies?

NL: What fascinates you most in the eRepublik, the political, warfare or economical modul? And why?

Eris: Politics has always been my favourite. I like the social aspect and how much freedom and flexibility we have to create what we want, but perhaps it is easiest to get involved in. I would like to be more active in the military, but unfortunately it will be a long time before my strength catches up. The economical module used to be more interesting, but it seems pretty bland at the moment. I work at my food company, but would lose a lot of money if I hired anyone else. I’m also sad that Gold prices don’t fluctuate more, and that cc is all the same. Daytrading used to be a lot more fun.

As chief diplomat, the MoFa also have to have an eye for the possibilties......!

NL: You are one of the few female players in eRep - The majority of players seem to be male. Why is this so? Do you feel that female players can give the game other facets than male players do?

Eris: I’m not any sort of expert, but I think it’s probably related to our culture and gender roles, and what sort of things are encouraged from a young age. It’s odd for girls to play computer games at all, or be attracted to military or politics, though it is becoming more common. Like Elquee said, maybe the game would draw in more females if we had an avatar and could design different outfits 😛

NL: Do you play other games? And if so, what’s your favourite game (except eRep, of course).

Eris: I have spent a lot of time playing Pillars of Eternity. I also recently started playing Kholat. But my all time favourites would have to be Final Fantasy IX, Minecraft, and Halo.

NL: And the last question: What’s your favourite TV-program?

Eris: I have a ridiculous obsession with the show The 100, and I’m super excited that season 3 just started.

Thank you, Eris, for taken your time to answering my questions! Let`s now go back to the Cultural Eve program. Next now is the North Korean People`s Army Opera ensemble, performing old traditionally revolutionary North Korean labour-songs. I don`t want to miss that.........!
