A talk with: MoD Freke - The Force is with him!

Day 2,951, 19:26 Published in Norway Norway by Zinitus

Yesterdays epic battles are over, the beaten soldiers are on their way home, and eNorway has get its freedom! What could have been more appropriate today, than "A talk With", The Minister of Defence, (MoD) and Commander of "Heimevernet", Freke?

Northern Light (NL): Hello Freke! How do you feel after the big victory?

Freke: It is a relief that we are back to running our country again by democratic principles. Right now, however, the strongest feeling is gratitude for the overwhelming support we had from our friends and allies all over the eWorld in making this liberation come through.

NL: And whats your comments to the battles - how do you want to describe them – how important is the commanders role in your opinion?

Freke: When fighting in a coup or liberation, you see very uneven battles compared to open/MPP campaigns. Some battles would go on for quite some time with only one or two showing up to fight for one of the sides in a division. The supporters of the dictator hit hard in the first battle, most likely to test our determination and strength. Always grand to see battles go epic! After the liberation army taking down all the four divisions in that initial battle, their motivation seemed to cool down, although decent fighting was seen in most divisions throughout the campaign.
Setting combat orders (COs) at the right time and size can sometimes be something of an art, and in a liberation battle you need to get the word out more actively during the fight, since you need to motivate people to move and join a supporting military unit (MU) to fight. So no doubt, the MU commanders are vital players in the field in such important fights.

NL: What can be done to avoid a new PTO/MTO next time in the future?

Freke: In my opinion we must get back to where we were before, as a more organized and efficient eCountry. We need to get back to a distinction of roles and responsibility between government, congress and other positions, like within intelligence and military. That way, we will be able to act faster and respond better to potential threats, than if every single decision must be based on consensus among practically every citizen in eNorway.

NL: But I nearly forgot: Tell us a little about yourselves in RL and in your eRepublikan life?

Freke: I am a RL Norwegian, living on a small farm on the west coast of Norway, just like my home base in eRepublik has always been Vestlandet. I am the father of three, and is a hopeless workaholic who never have been able to have only one occupation. At the moment I work part time with digital map systems for a city administration, do free lance translations, do a bit of farming and have just launched a music record company.
I joined eRepublik in 2010, which was the great multi/PTO era. eNorway was under constant threat of being PTOed back then, and we always held our breath during elections. I joined Teknokratene early on and enjoyed the much more active political life we had then. Lots of political articles were published all the time, mainly between Teknokratene and our arch enemy, the Binary Party (Binærpartiet). I also run several companies (organizations), producing and selling goods. I find it a bit sad that the political and economical part of eRepublik is more or less ruined, as it has turned into more of a pure war game.

NL: You have been proven to be a good poet too! Do you have other secret abilities?

Freke: Writing and acting has always been a hobby. I addition to that, I am extremely handsome, charming and an expert at seducing women. Unfortunately, those are very secret abilities of mine, so most women are unaware of them.

NL: Your paper is kalled “Heimeværneren” (The Home Guard) – do you have affiliation to the real Norwegian “Heimevernet” in RL?

Freke: No, I have never had anything to do with the real Heimevernet, except for when they turn up in my woods when having one of their exercise manouvers. Back in the days, Heimevernet was a division in eNorway with particular focus on newcomers and recruits. Since that arrangement is not active any more, I found it a fitting name for a military unit.

NL: Will we see you as an active player in the time to come?

Freke: Yes, you will. Both personal and work life has changed to the better for me now, so I have acquired this strange phenomenon called spare time. I have been a 2-clicker for some time, and want to get back to be more active. I still have a bit of research to do on game mechanics and who are now allied with who. Man, things have changed!

NL: What part of eRepublik game is the most interesting in your opinion – the military – the political or the economical part? Do you play other games?

Freke: As I have said before, politics and economics was an intersting part of this game, but the way things are now, they are mainly bystanding elements to the military part that has taken over completely. Perhaps the old economic module became too complex, but I miss it. But as long as the military aspect of the game has a large portion of strategy and tactics to it, I still find it interesting. Other than that, I am not much of a gamer, to be honest. Too many games, too little time.

NL: And the last question – your favorite movie – is it a war film?

Freke: Not really. I have a number of favorite movies, but since we are approaching the yuletide, I will name Lost Christmas with Eddie Izzard. It's a strange movie, but I always have to see it this time of year to get into the season spirit. My favourite war movie will probably always be Apocalypse Now.

Thank you Freke, for the Battle today - and for taking Your time!
