[UKRP] New kid on the block

Good Afternoon UK;



Not many of you will know who I am. That's because when I joined over 2 years ago I mainly two-clicked, I would get bored and I would have stints of complete inactivity. Two months ago I decided I needed to give this game a real go so I got involved with politics for the first time and decided to join UKRP. UKRP have been great! They are the most active party that I've seen in the UK in recent times. But I was more impressed with how they accepted me and how when I showed interest in becoming more involved they took me under their wings.

I have seen people say we are a party full of older players, so I wanted to prove that wrong by running for party president.

Now I cannot compete with the other guys that hold all the experience of countless government positions but I can match them on desire and willingness to try and help the party become more attractive to the new young generation. Here are a few ideas I would like to implement if elected.



1) Bring back the 'Welcome Basket'

When I first joined I was approached by a complete random, someone from TUP if I recall correctly. He welcomed me to the game, gave me a brief breakdown of the game and what happens in the UK. He gave me some important links and then he gifted me some weapons and food.

I was genuinely impressed by this and although I didn't join TUP at the time I hold respect for that individual for what he did. It was class and it is something I would like the UKRP to start doing. But not just targeting new players, I want to help existing players who may come forward like I did when I wanted to get more involved. I will self-fund this project but going forward long-term I hope the membership of UKRP could donate so we can make this sustainable and prove that we are the party that help our community.

2) Improve activity on Discord

I am new to Discord which is an online communication platform. It allows me to directly message and contact other UKRP members; we even have our own room.

The problem is it’s too quiet at times. So I want to try and attract more to come online and get engaged. I was thinking a party/quiz night with some rewards for attendance or for winning games. Hopefully we can increase numbers and activity within Discord.

3) Weekly membership leaflet

We have all seen the main media on our main pages, lots of information and opinions. I want to release weekly leaflets for UKRP members which will give everyone a shorter oversight of what has been going on in the UK, Links and advice direct to their mailboxes. I want to keep our members fully informed on government/congress decisions because not everyone has the time to keep up with a fast moving UK. With Erepublik having been sold, new changes to the game could be around the corner and having the correct information quickly will help UKRP maintain the edge.

4) Make space for the new guy

If elected I would reserve two spaces on the congress list for newer players. Giving them a chance and keeping them engaged is vital if UKRP is to remain competitive and attract new talent. I think we can solidify our position as the UK's biggest party. I want to see us dominate in congress with a majority government.


So if given the chance to run our party for the month I promise to do my best to achieve these goals. Increase activity and hopefully as a result see membership numbers continue to increase.
