[SPQR] Avatars & eReligion.

Day 1,880, 10:07 Published in USA USA by Hercules Mulligan

Citizens of the eUSA,

Would you like some prelude? Perhaps some drama and war?
~ Just a few things to set the mood, if you are so inclined. ^_~

Recently you might have seen SPQR in the news and on the forums.
You might also have seen a lot of new avatars making the rounds.

I'd like to open this up to everyone. This movement is about pulling together all of our warring factions to empower our nation. I don't care which party, unit, faction, etc, and I do not intend to ask you to leave behind one such group just to join another. The bottom line is simple: if you want 10/10 resources, full bonuses, expansion, fun, etc, then we're on the same page already. Join us.

These are the current primary options:
1. Borders: (a) Paisley Border, (b) Leather Border.
2. Logos: (a) Large Brass Logo, (b) Small Brass Logo, (c) SupremacyLogo.
3. Overlays: (a) Avatar Over Frame, (b) Avatar Inside Frame, (c) Avatar Through Frame.

Examples:

1. Paisley Border, Large Brass Logo, Avatar Over Frame.

2. Paisley Border, Small Brass Logo, Avatar Over Frame.

3. Paisley Border, Supremacy Logo, Avatar Over Frame.

4. Paisley Border, Supremacy Logo, Avatar Through Frame.

5. Leather Border, Small Brass Logo, Avatar Through Frame.

Some pictures do not have backgrounds which translate well. If you have this kind of picture in mind, provide separate pictures for the avatar and the background, we can make that work as well.

Example:

1. Source Avatar Picture.

2. Source Background Picture.

3. Final SPQR Avatar.

These are some additional options to personalize it:
1. Logo Placement: specify another corner/location.
2. Party/MU Icons: provide icon and specify placement.

Examples:

If you want to keep your military border and add the SPQR logo:
1. Logo Placement: specify the corner/location.
2. Logo Size: specify if size should be fit/modified for location.
3. Frame Placement: specify if frame should only be on one side.

Examples:

If you think of any other personalization options you would like, we can work with you to make it work.

If you are Oblige, insist on purple to try and look regal and end up looking silly. Personally I like Obligesince I have been working with him the past weeks... but dear Dio that picture is garish. It's alsmost as silly as that article ilphen wrote recently. Almost. At least ilphen has solid visual style with his avatars and media graphics.

I digress.

I'd like to take a moment to quote Gnilraps:
They are not asking you to leave your party.
They are not asking you to abandon your independence.
They are not asking you to submit to any god or person.

They simply want your agreement that the only true threat to our sovereignty is the one attempting to seize it from within.

SPQR historically was a tenuous balance of factions which had no particular love for one another, but who recognized that the survival of Roma was a duty which bound them in purpose.

(e)SPQR now must also become a tenuous balance of factions which need no particular love for one another (when was the last time you saw Oblige and Inwegen agree about ANYTHING!?!?), but who must recognize that by unifying our number, we so vastly outsource our wretched enemy that a new day will soon dawn. And in the Nova Roma, eRepublik will once again be the fun game which bound us together in the first place.

Gnilraps said it true. Frankly, he saved me from writing that article. I'm glad it came from someone who was an early doubter on the outside. It best highlights the point of all this.

Some folks object to the eReligion aspect. I say this is not orthodox Dioism, this is a different movement, as Theocracy was a different movement. Want to join the Pantheon? Change your name. Become a Dio Eraclea, a Dio Killing Time, a Dio Maximus, a Dio Jazar, etc. I'd personally be mightily amused if we become blessed with a Dio Reagan.

If you do not like following a god, become a god, or ignore all the gods.

If you want to avoid the Dio and eReligion aspect, focus on the civics and potential for union of adversaries presented by SPQR. This is a nationalist movement, not intended to weaken any party or unit, instead intended to bring all of us together to return our nation to prominence.

Our lead graphics designer for SPQR is snake dr.
~ He is not part of the movement personally; he's just awesome.
Our IRC channel is #SPQR.

If you want an avatar, send a message to snake and/or me. Send us hyperlinks for the picture(s) and icon(s) necessary for your picture. You can also find us on IRC, if we are online when you are.
1. Simple Way: Send a pic, name the border, logo, and overlay style.
2. Complex Way: If you any of the more complex options, no problem. Send us links, tell us your idea.
