[ID4CP] The motley crew

Day 3,360, 22:21 Published in USA Canada by Ilene Dover

Welcome back to round three, ladies and gentlemen. The primary nomination process is underway in most major parties now. If you’re a party member and haven’t told your leadership who you want to support for President then get out there and do it! If you don’t say what you want, people have to guess and sometimes get it wrong. Participatory democracy is a two way street. Hold up your end of the bargain!

This article is focussed on who is going to help me during the month, and why I’ve chosen them. That doesn’t mean that applications for roles are closed though. If you see how your skills, experience or enthusiasm can fill a gap then I’d love to hear from you. Since my first campaign article two people have come forward to help out already and been taken onboard. So, y’know, this is a serious offer and not just platitudes...

First cab off the rank is an EZC tank runner and someone you might not all be familiar with in his current guise. That is, my Chief of Staff Cthulu..

He used to go by Alexander_Auctoritas (bet you know that name!) and lists his hobbies as ”throwing bombs on the forum now and again, calling out Pfeiffer when he is being a piece of …., and staying in the shadows.” Sounds like the trifecta for Chief of Staff to me.

Taking the reigns at the Department of Defence is the XO of WarInc, Cubby.

Cubby comes to Cabinet with more direct experience of top tier MU operation than executive government operation. And you know what? I’m cool with that. Knowing how government did things last month, last year and last decade just means the same mistakes get repeated. It’s time for a fresh perspective.

Helping out as deputies in defence will be SFP stalwart and resident quiet mouse JamesB009 and the recently resurrected Kalos Hoenn.

Citizens Affairs is not a flashy department that gets much attention or glory. Just like a roadside drain, it only gets attention when it stops working how it’s supposed to.

Unblocking the Department of Citizens Affairs this month with is are two old hands at education and giveaway programs. I re-introduce to you Jimmy Cincinnati (formerly Ghost of Tom Joad) and Jessina.

The Department can certainly use some more public educational content than the past 2-3 months, and is falling badly behind on distribution for assistance programs. Jessina has been a Secretary of Citizens Affairs multiple times in the past year (hell, she was the one who taught me how to do the job!). Jimmy has been running assistance programs (like The Government Cheese) since before it was cool.

Taking over in the media department for the first time will be Beam expert and wannabe-rapper Ya Boi D Money.

He’s proud of his clickbait trolling (including of me…), and is almost never offline. His style might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it certainly gets eyeballs on the screen and discussions started. Whether you like his style or not, he’s exactly the sort of guy you want in the media role because he generates interest and discussion.

Lastly, but certainly not least, comes the State Department. We’ve had a bit of a roller-coaster ride here recently - three different Secretaries in as many months. Foreign Affairs is not an easy role to drop someone into, because so much of it revolves around your game network and acquired skills and knowledge. If your Minister of Foreign Affairs / Secretary of State wasn’t paying attention last month they won’t perform properly this month. I want to end this cycle of instability and go back to our roots. Wild Owl has agreed to resume his perennial role as my Secretary of State.

Things are a mess for us internationally. Orion and Pacifica are at loggerheads. My perspective is that there is no effective intra-alliance communication, and no effective plan. This has to change. As Wild Owl has been excluded from government lately he may not be fully up to speed on current issues by February 6. Yui has kindly asked to stay on and help see the current Pacifica instability through.

I have at least one more article to come on policy directions that haven’t been discussed already. That includes foreign policies, and why Wild Owl is keen to be back in charge of the State Department.
