One thing i like about this article is the bit where my arrival and acceptance is mentioned.
21 votes wow. Where as the other two new arrivals had less than me.

New arrivals are judged on votes against. We operate a policy of "is there a reason to keep them out" 🙂

Just as a joke... so lets say 52% vote for a Country President and 2% find reasons that that person needs to be ''kept out of that position'' what do you do then? I think the amount of Yes justifies the acceptance of a position. I really liked the fact that 21 people WANTED to vote and Voted yes for me. Where as in the 1st acceptance only... 7 bothered to say a Yes. It shows participation and eagerness to have that person in the country.... But i will not get my hopes THAT high 🙂 😛 😛

Also, as soon as you hit 21 votes we stopped as it was a majority, you could've potentially gotten more. 😉

You know that you are supposed to include the PM/dCP in the Congress email thread, don’t you?

If you have urgent ministerial business to raise with all Congress you can always set up your own message ... Otherwise there is in fact no consistent convention for ministers to be thrown in, CP+Cong has been the template for months, it's just so happened most cabinet members have been congressmen. It also isn't for the gov to tell Congress what they are 'supposed' to do to organise themselves, notwithstanding the fact if DM had aimed to include ministers all the actual ministers are in it - what's new is having placeholder vCPs!

Gov has always been added to the thread as part of their own democratic mandate (and to do their jobs)

I obvs have nothing to do with setting up the message so I can't speak for why, I'm just pointing out the facts - anyone can set up a message and it is not the case that every cabinet member has always been included. There has even been periods where no gov was included whatsoever. Thems the facts.

tbh the clearest explanation is that beta just forgot, a position I have sympathy for because I used to accidently even leave Huey out til he gave a meaningful look

can't recall where we ever discussed changing the convention of adding ministers to mongress automatically as part of the CP's own electoral mandate

(happy to table it if it needs to be formally legislated into the framework; randomly not adding ministers on personal opinion seems a bit dangerous to me)

I don't think anything happens on personal opinion, and we don't have 'conventions' 😛

If you want to legislate then legislate but I will not be voting to arbitrarily crowd Congress discussions with seat fillers or stooges or whatever you may call it. That's been my 'convention' since we ditched the forums and the lords. Meaningful contributor's to gov might be included at the speakers discretion, as has been the case for years, but obviously legislating will mean there's less room for common sense decisions.

The Speaker is neutral. They shouldn't be missing people out just because of their opinion on how that person is doing their job. Wingfield IS vCP and therefore should be in the thread, whether he is doing a good job or not.

There are times that Ministerial input is needed. Adding them to the thread does no harm, and if they are inactive and not commenting it affects nothing. But at least when they have valid contributions, we don't have to be waiting for new threads or replies to PM's being copied in.

Yes I can see wingfield is your new target but he is the vCP and thus entitled to do his job (as much as he wants)

Random unexplained and unhelpful changes to format have become a bit of a problem since I handed over the keys and we'll be working to correct this ^

My only target is drivel tyvm. Congress is much healthier since we reintroduced speakers back in Feb. Any desperate-time-desperate-measures-make-ends-meet-minimum-viable-congress hangovers shouldn't be placed on a pedestal as 'conventions', especially if they don't even reflect the way Congress actually ran back when there was tonnes of mad meta
