Update Gov Meeting, GAME ON #1

Day 1,907, 13:02 Published in Netherlands Netherlands by Het Catshuis

[ENGLISH VERSION BELOW]

INTERESSE?

Wij geloven hier allemaal in eigenlijk.

3: Battle order communicatie tool

[ENGLISH VERSION]

Dear citizens of the eNetherlands - or just: hi there everyone,

So, we had our first gov meeting last night. And it was a party, we had some heated debates, some jokes flying around and in the end some old Scotch (we believe, Weekstrom can give you more details). We discussed all topics we planned (that’s a first!) but we took some sideroads too and that is where things turned interesting. We actually ended up with a plan. A PLAN. A plan that involves all departments, and evolves around our natural allies and supplies for you. But first things first...

1: Natural allies
While talking about natural allies, the usual suspects being Ireland, (through the Cavan pact), the Asgard countries (also hate Poland), Norway, China, Croatia, Albania, Israel, France, some of our EDEN friends, we asked ourselves: what would we mean by “focus on on our natural allies”? We decided to take a closer look at our ambassadors in the specific countries and see what they had to say. That was when we needed the first drink.

>> WE DO NEED NEW AMBASSADORS! INTERESTED? CONTACT MC CLAREN!

Sorry to throw in point 4 in the agenda now, bare with us, as we are trying to give you a somewhat like-you-had-been-there impression of the meeting, including the more ecstatic trips and the paths near the cliffs. So, since allies are in-game defined through MPP’s (multi protection pacts) we jumped to MPP’s next.

4. International cooperation in MPP strategy
As we took the conversation to MPP’s and budget, someone had the guts to question if we need MPP’s at all, since we can fight from other countries close-by as well. Some oh’s and ah’s later, we came to the conclusion that it was not even that stupid a question at all.

The general assumption we need MPP’s for our Daily Orders is not per se true. It makes live easier, but if commanders are active enough, they can set DO with the right prio-setting, in cooperation with the MoD. A CHALLENGE, but what’s a game without a challenge? And why not move to other countries incase needed? If we are to build stronger bonds, real allies will prefer us to fight on their soil and in their battles over us paying for an anonymous MPP, not having any money left for battle itself.

>> HOWEVER, WE WILL NEED COACHING TO EXPLAIN GAME MECHANICS HERE AND SMART MOVING

(btw, after the meeting there were some after-talks with Finance, now working on aid for moving costs for the low levels, in case of RW - publication will follow)

5. Budget and the need for private sponsoring of MPP’s
This naturally made us land into the next topic. It would not only save on MPP-money but also on moving costs for our players. It would actually give us some room to realize more joint strikes, and/or hand out free supplies in designated battles. Wooowwww, time for a toast! In the flow of the moment all pieces of the puzzle fell into place, even the last big question: but how to pick our allies and when to fight for whom..?

2. Cooperation between MoD and MoFA
We have not been blindly following EDEN orders for a while now. So it is up to us again to decide whom to fight for. A shared task and responsibility of the Foreign Affairs and Defense team together for this term (one thing we agreed on very quickly). Now we had the great example of the joint strikes with Ireland. If we are to sign even less MPP’s and we would be using the amount of money collected in Operation Goldrush, we could actually work this out. (Also privately funded money may be better off getting spent on supplies rather than MPPs, but of course the donors will have the right to determine what their money should be spent on.) Then someone came up with a brilliant idea:

>> WE WILL PICK AN ALLY OF THE WEEK, EVERY NEW WEEK! AND NOT JUST MOD, BUT ALSO MOFA, MOC ETC.

Actually, we all believe in this. It will give us the opportunity to really get to know our allies, we will fight in their battles and know with whom and what we are fighting for. As they will notice us, not bad for international affairs either. (We will of course look for countries that really could use our help, that will have enough mpp’s and battles to be expected for this one week!)

3: Battle order communication tool
A little sidestep to communication between MOD and MU commanders and captains. It has been improved in the past months, but it would be great if we could communicate a mobilo prio to the higher level soldiers (or the ones who fight more than just the kills for DO) directly ingame. Real-time, no delay, not dependant on the commander to be online and put it in the shouts, nor of the people having to come to IRC (try that when playing mobile). Unfortunately, not a done deal yet but hopes are up we will get our hands on an ingame add-on very soon!!!

6: Media coverage & fun
In the end, even without having another look at the agenda, we went straight on with the last topic on it. Discussing how we would be working this out in our own ministries in the upcoming week, we picked our first - maybe unexpected - ally of the week and our team is already working hard on the first publications as we speak!

And then, finally, when we were all in dire need of something stronger to handle all the excitement over the plans, Viglius surprised with a very thorough and well thought out plan for restructuring our forum medals. That was too much. Even for the experienced gov members in the team. Applause....

We called it the night, o/’d and o7’d and got rid of our last ff before (some of us, the ones that actually sleep) turned in. And dreamt of the great things to come. We hope you all will enjoy, we sure will!
