UK elections July
Lisamunusira
Holidays are there. No fierce campaigning has been done it seems. The elections were exciting until the end.
TUP won the elections with the most votes and seats. UKPP did very good getting 3 seats. ESO was lucky that Sir Botham of PCP lost one vote in the 6 hours examining the results (only others that lost 1 vote were Talon Karrde and Angela Williams, but for them it was not important). Nevertheless 2 seats for ESO is not awesome I think. UKRP got one seat for Master Hofkens. Good to have him in the congress with his experience in many fields. PCP did not get a seat because it lacked 1 vote (painful).
When we compare this result with the party president elections on July 15 we see that there were 102 less voters in the congress elections. Normally there are more voters in congress elections but holidays are started and the UK is loosing citizens (currently no baby boom).
As only the top 5 parties (in members) are able to run in the congress elections and none of the out of top 5 parties had someone running in a top 5 party it was important for the top 5 parties to gain votes from non partisan citizens and members of the out of top 5 parties.
UKPP was quite succesfull in this and went from 86 to 102 votes. PCP and TUP were somewhat below their result of PP elections, ESO lost some more. UKRP did pretty bad, they fell from 55 to 27 votes but got with 7% of the voters 1 seat (10
😵.
Important is strategic voting. As UKRP and PCP had only one candidate they did not need to vote strategic. However ESO (9 candidates) TUP (8 ) and UKPP (7) had to think whom they want to get elected in these circumstances. I have seen all day shouts from TUP and UKPP to vote for their candidates that had a good chance to get elected. They reached their goal with the seats for the ones they campaigned for. Well done. I missed these shouts from ESO, but maybe they did this mostly on IRC and maybe their campaign was done well, but their result was not good. To many votes were put on ESO candidates that had no chance of winning a seat. When Sir Botham had not lost 1 vote by the admins ESO would only have had 1 seat.
TUP, UKPP and ESO also used last minutes voting. These are votes used when you know how much votes each candidate has, knowing how many votes you can use and trying to get some more votes on someone that is not in or on someone that has no safe seat to get the best result out of the votes you have. Because we only had one region with candidates it was not difficult who needed votes.
Anyways we have a new congress. Congrats to Kravenn, Richard Feist, Lady MacBeth II, Niemand, Apronchef, Jamie2721, Angela Williams, Master Hofkens, Talon Karrde & Klurr.
I thank everyone who has been active in the elections especially the ones that voted on me. I promise to do all I can for the UK and its citizens.
IRC
It is interesting to see that 1 vote can change who will get a seat. For that I encourage every one to be active on IRC so they can get more involved and place their vote strategic. You can come their quite easily by this link.
After that type: /join #tup.public
followed by enter and you can talk to me or other people of The Unity Party.
When you come online around 11.30/12.00 eRep time and you are eUK citizen you can get Q6 weapons for free when you have health to use in the eUK battle of the day.

Nice result for the congress!
Nice article
Good article, congrats to TUP. You are right to point out discipline in voting, while we want new players to get elected in ESO, we let too many people run. 5 votes spent on two candidates lower down could have gotten 2 more (talented) ESO members elected in front of Hofkens and Talon Karrde.
It was really close and congratulations to those who scraped in; here's to next month!
Talented... but not that talented 😉
Indeed discipline is what is needed. In TUP we used that to get Jamie2721 chosen to get new blood in.
Next month new chances indeed.
nice to buy votes for a handful of q6 weapons, make a public offer many new voters may come up
blue and evil moral winner
nice, vote o/
Well done to TUP once again. I'm happy with UKPP's showing, our strategy to run 3 guys paid off well. ESO for me are the biggest disappointment, plenty of articles stating intentions but they didn't seem to follow this up with organization, cooperation or direction it seems.
A pretty solid Congress I think, and nice to see Jamie2721 getting in (despite the uninspiring choice of name 😛).

"When Sir Botham had not lost 1 vote by the admins ESO would only have had 1 seat".
Enquiry!!! Why the hell did I lose a vote?
It will be a vote from someone that used the same IP as someone ales and was suspected to be like a multi. Two more votes were deleted, but that had not any impact on the outcome. We are improving with only 3 votes deleted. A month ago 12 votes were deleted. http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-congress-chosen-2069806/1/20 (including a vote on me that month). You never hear why they delete votes, however it would be good to know, especially when you lose the seat you have worked hard for.
I've said this all over the place, but thanks Nicemand and thanks to the TUP who really helped me get elected 🙂

>"The elections were exiting until the end."
I believe you mean exciting....
I'm happy with the result. I bear responsibility either way. As someone with a full time job on a 4 hour time delay obviously that that was a factor.
I intentionally chose not to block people from running or to show preferential support for any candidate. Later on in the game I of course directed people toward those who had a realistic chance, but I have zero regret on those choices. I'm most proud of the ESO attitude. Everyone I conversed with was lovely and supportive. Yay Klurr and AC!
Thanks Inwegen.
@Elle Roslin: When most in ESO prefer the way it went, it is the correct way.
In TUP no one was blocked to run and the ones that were active in campaigning could do whatever they liked. Nevertheless with the ones active on IRC we discussed from the start what would be best to do and all there agreed.
Voted but begrudgingly, not because it isn't a great article which it most definitely is... but i am a little horrified by the result but there's nothing we can do now but to use this experience to motivate us to do a far better job next time.
Congratulations to those elected, and Sir Botham i feel your pain too 🙁
Gratz to all. Harsh luck, Botham. o7
"However ESO (9 candidates) TUP (8 ) and UKRP (7)"
I think you mean UKPP. 😛
Thanks Daniel Thorrold! (edited)
