The IA/Bootcamp aren't really funded anymore. IA Commune is funded to a small degree, but is still by a vast majority a volunteer run organization which runs off of hard work and its own self-sufficiency.

I think the majority of citizens understand the benefits of a nation military unit - it's only a minority of smaller MU's who would have a special interest in spending more to fund private groups with varying commitments/dependabilities.

i agree on the fact that gather all new members on a same MU, with experienced players to help them, is necessary

Unfortunately we don't have that many new players, but for the few that we do have, it's very important that they be mentored on how the game works, and avoiding beginner mistakes (like fighting so hard on the first day that you're in D4 with 10 strength).

I think there's many ways to do this, but BootCamp seems a good enough way to me.

I totaly agree with that, since i joined the Banshees, I learned a lot and felt all the support when needed. Thank you all.

Bootcamp is one of the best organizations in any country. I can't tell you how proud I am that our nation is so committed to helping new players to create a MU dedicated to helping them get on their feet.

Bootcamp should NEVER die.

He may or may not be RL Irish. But, that has no bearing on the merit of his opinions. Likewise, your RL nationality does not enhance or diminish your views. Your voice also deserves to be heard regardless of nationality.

Please avoid using "I'm RL Irish" and "You're not RL Irish" as reasons for ANYTHING in this game. Nationality does not validate or invalidate political views.

If you want to argue with him that the peace we reached was reasonable, then I got your back. Louth for peace was the right choice for so many reasons. But you did not lay out the reasons a realistic peace was good. You just tried to tell him that his dislike of your view was invalid because he might not be RL Irish.

We're too small for multiple competing MUs to be the central military stage of the country. A central MU is an absolute requirement.

I would welcome a community of many small self-sustained MU enclaves. We have a MU commanders thread each month already to coordinate fighting for national interests, and that works pretty well.

I'm cynical about the idea of abandoning the IA and embracing many MUs. The world stage and history have shown us that this only increases the degree to which MUs are political entities.

The IA has been accused many times of breaching its own apolitical mandate - and yet it is still the largest and most supported MU in the country, demonstrating that a majority disagree. These members are the single most diverse voluntary body in eIreland, both now, and in history.

The IA is one of the best things that ever happened to eIreland in my opinion. I put my support behind it 100%.

I just do not think "A central MU is an absolute requirement." I embrace any MUs that wish to establish themselves in eIreland, and join our community. As long as they fight for the country, then I have no problem with a myriad of MUs.

Most countries don't have a central MU - but then most countries aren't eIreland... I think it's one of many reasons that we manage to be the only small non-TWO aligned country that has bee consistently un-wiped in the last ~2 years.

I'm quite happy to see a handful of private MUs, I just feel it's important to encourage people to consider joining the IA first and last... it's part of the reason we've made the MU a lot more accessible and citizen oriented.

When I think back to the ICA/IDF era, and the way that military organizations became political forces - often irrationally fighting against each other and failing to coordinate, it re-enforces for me the original founding concepts of the IA...

We always laugh at the idea of political unity and as a pipe dream, and yet look at the history of the IA and you'll see a fairly convincing working model.

The IA IS a community of cooperating MUs. The very act of having a central MU allows for greater cooperation, and only very excellent MUs attract people from the state MU.

The State MU culls a lot of the useless MUs by its very existence, and provides the officer corps to lead the cooperative MUs.

The problem is the political nature the army has taken on. Other players are blocked from government just because they are not a big shot in IA. Actually a distributed system is more than a must now. We need to build up more than one aRMY. We have the money for it which accrued to Ireland due to the actions of non IA players.

I am not a member of the IA and I have not been blocked from Government. I don't see being a member of the IA as a prerequisite for government. It may be that many of the IA members are part of the government but that could be that the reason is that the IA is a big part of Ireland and so many of the people who get elected are part of the IA not that you have to be IA to get elected.

Where to start... I know why the disgruntled RTK wants the IA dismantled; the Army is an arm of government and hes not liked the governments for the last couple of months. Its a logical step (and rather desperate step) in an effort to undermine the current government having failed to do so by the political route.

There is a very long argument about how its only 40 members who get "funded" via communes, and even those players like the rest of the army, have a diverse political party membership, the hollow pillars a vested interest argument is built on when considering the diverse governments who've been elected and directed the Army since its creation.. etc etc, but I know thats not 'why' this article is up so wasted of time going into it when its not actually a debate but a political propaganda battle.

Far as I'm concerned, people ask me to be MoD, and I say yes - I do it because I'm asked. If I wasn't asked, I wouldn't do it. But I'd never say no to someone asking me to help my e-country.If I were to hazard a guess why I'm always asked to be MoD in crappy situations, probably because political instability kicks in, tough orders need carrying out and I'm pretty Zen when getting crap for it. Soon as I'm no longer wanted or needed, I'll happily just focus on my publishing.

When it comes to private MUs, I've never underestimated their value. Mechanically for COs, the quick reaction response in these latest RWs is a testament to the diverse range of Commander who could be called upon throughout the day. The uncontrollable / lack of red tape aspect of private MU has its place in any military operation - and I have the highest respect for those who fight in the national interest regardless of their uniform. A great many are apolitical in their operation, they'll collaborate with an elected government's strategy when given a legitimate justification, even if disagreeable - same as any IA member.

The issue comes when you remove the IA from the equation. MUs become political animals, competing with one another instead of cooperating for the common defence of the country. We've seen it in many countries already. It's not about disrespect to people who want membership of a different MU at all.
