Spain Attempts Comeback while EDEN Brings Fight to Germany, Day 1085

Day 1,085, 16:38 Published in USA USA by Lieutenant Scheisskopf

While the eUSA has resumed control of its front in Southeast Asia, eSpain has shown signs of a comeback in its own struggle on the Iberian Peninsula. Spearheading the eSpanish resurgence is a new tactic: the widespread use of resistance wars (RW). EDEN also unleashed a renewed offensive in Germany, bringing four countries to arms.

Spain Makes Progress Against Invaders
Although eSpain has made progress since the low point of Day 1083, when eSpain was losing on six fronts, the bottom point did not come until early in Day 1084, when eFrance took the fourth battle it opened the previous day by overrunning La Rioja. Since then, however, eSpain has repelled attacks on the Basque Country, and also notched victories against eBrazil by taking back both Castilla y Leon (CyL) and Murcia. The eSpanish success in Castilla y Leon was particularly significant, in that it established a buffer around the key region of Asturias, which had been briefly attacked by eBrazil on Day 1084. eFrance immediately attempted to take CyL at 01:08 on Day 1085, but eSpain easily fought back the attack and may be successfully halting the eBrazilian-eFrench onslaught; meanwhile, eSpain also enjoyed success in its offensive against Catalonia, whose conquest returns one more eSpanish region under la rojigualda.

Fewer attacks have taken place, although resistance wars (RW) are
unfolding across the eBrazilian and eFrench occupation zones

New to this front has been an increased and widespread use in resistance wars (RW), as eSpain has attempted a new tactic in opening a trio of RWs against eFrance on Day 1085, which were accompanied by two more RWs against eBrazil. While the eBrazilian-based RWs in Extremadura and Andalucia are in the very early stages, the eFrench RWs have been underway for a longer period of time and show mixed success for the Resistance Forces. The resistance is leading in Castilla la Mancha at the time of publication (possibly to enable eSpain to gradually surround the eFrench-occupied Madrid), but it is trailing in Navarra and currently tied in contesting La Rioja, two northern regions which could help eSpain deny eFrance a second route to Asturias. If eSpain is able to win in two of the eFrench RWs, the tempo of the fighting in the Iberian Peninsula will have definitively swung towards eSpain and its EDEN allies.

USA Retakes Regions from Indonesia, Relinquishes Control over Malaysia
Following brief eIndonesian gains, the eUSA successfully retook control over the strategically important Southern Thailand and Peninsular Malaysia, both useful for shoring up travel between Southeast Asia and India. Meanwhile, the eUSA returned regions to eMalaysia it had taken from eSerbia, by fighting for the resistance force in Sabah and Sarawak RWs. Despite eUS successes on these fronts, however, the eUS-eIndo war has calmed for most of Day 1085 and no sign indicates any eUSA aggression to take place on native eIndonesian regions at this time.

Germany gains international focus as four countries take to the battlefields

Four Countries Fighting in Germany
Germany attracted increased international attention on Day 1085 amidst a wave of activity, kicked off with an eGerman attack on eItalian-occupied Bavaria at 03:25. Although eGermany had some limited success in the early going, eItalian allies have rallied to its defense and are helping the EDEN member hold the region. In a more traditional and more one-sided campaign, ePoland pushed deeper into Germany by attacking Lower Saxony and Bremen (LS😎 almost two hours prior to an eGerman counterattack on occupied Brandenburg and Berlin at 09:39; ePoland was handily winning both campaigns, until Phoenix intervention helped eGermany secure LSB. Meanwhile, ePoland's ally, eSweden, entered the fray and enjoyed its own success at Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg. ePoland and eSweden both list German regions as their goals for this month, so an extended campaign in Germany will be likely for the coming weeks.

Recap
EDEN states and allies seem to have gotten the best of Day 1085’s developments. However, those countries will need to carry their current progress into the rest of the week for any real changes to be seen. eSpain may be returning to a model which helped liberate eSpain over a year ago in using RWs offensively to reclaim lost territory, while the eUSA, ePoland, and eSweden are both on the move in their respective theaters. Time will tell whether any action emerges on any front to suggest a real breakthrough is coming, so stay tuned.

God Bless America,
