Something from us at the MoDA

First off I would like to congratulate Mr Rico Suave and Mr Locutus on their convincing win in this current presidential election. Should we call you President Suave…

Anyway back to the matter at hand. MoDA headed by our wise friend Wilpanzer1 (Ricky sucks up to his new baas).
The MoDA has set out this term to establish itself as a prestigious well oiled machine. Expect to various changes in this ministry. We are working towards greatness.

With that said, I’ve been set at the helm of the department of Community development (DoCD) and Education (DoE) as the Deputy minister of Domestic Affairs, with the help of Joseph Rich (Director of Community Development) and Wabaki (Director of Education) .

Being a relatively new player, I am a firm believer of revisiting past ideas that have worked, one of them being Mentorship . I've been doing a lot of research with regards to Community Development in the past, which many people have contributed to. Mentorship is a massively important role and I would like to see it re-visited in this term, with a twist!

What I would like to see is the mentor buddy being assigned differently –

In the game we are confronted with 3 main aspects - Military, Politcs and Forum/IRC. I would like each new player to be given 3 mentors/buddies - someone with military experience (from a specific MU), someone from a political party (preferably the PP or someone they nominate) and finally someone who is very involved in the forum side of things.

The idea behind 3 people is that it spreads the load on the individual player (who more than likely will have responsibilities and commitments). The new player will feel involved in various aspects of the game and it will be an overall better experience. They will also feel a link to their mentors as they are encouraged to join their mentors respective Military units/political parties (In the beginning of the game new players are afforded to much choice and it can be overwhelming), but if we get the mentors to say come join my MU or party it will give a sense of belonging early in the game (bearing in mind they can exercise their freedom of choice at a later stage when they are more comfortable with the game). This to will get us more good mentors as there is an added benefit to be involved in the mentoring program(Not only to develop the community but also their MU or Party).

We also have various players who are experienced in specific fields and sometimes worry how to help in areas not to qualified in. This way we ensure that we are drawing from the experience of player’s strengths rather than their weaknesses. All Mentors will be assigned in the fairest way and will be held in the utmost integrity.

The department of Education is also very close to my heart as it is something we are in need of. The majority of our education articles in use were done by a player by the name of Damien Wolf. These articles are excellent but outdated. We need to update these with a sense of urgency, as most aspects these articles talk of, are of an old game rather than an updated game. Getting these articles up to date will increase the game for many a new player. I would also like to add a bit of personality to these topics by inserting a quote relevant to the topic from old players experiences, so new players can see that it has been done before. Also I will be continuing my in game interviews as I see them as an opportunity of making new and old players aware of their community. Remember Education is a thing we as members of our community, will constantly be doing, and I need your input so give it, I won’t be offended because as a person in authority I don’t have that luxury.

Lastly to put peoples minds at ease, The MoDA is full of new players and what we lack in experience will be compensated with passion and drive. We also have all you old players to help us. To a new term, a great one.

Thanks Ricky
Naartjies for everyone.
