So we have a country again

It may just be a single region but it is our single region!
But there is something rotten in the state of eSouth Africa, a sickness that constantly surfaces when we as a people accomplish something.
We saw it when we sent INGSOC packing(anyone remember those guys?)and when we thwarted Bunaly’s first PTO-attempt. We saw it at the birth of the third Republic and we see it now that Northern Cape has been liberated.
Our sickness is impatience
We are impatient because we need someone to fight. If we don’t have eBrazilians or channers we target businessmen or congressmen, those we perceive to be “the elite”(not a big fan of that phrase). Mainly because the market is in disarray or because we feel left out of the loop.
Deep down we all know why the economy is shaky and we all know why true democracy has to take a seat in the back of the room for the moment.
Our sickness is pride
Average Jan is the reason we have a government at all. If he has issues with how government is run he must be met with respect. This is true if he is a Beta giant and it is true if he was born yesterday. Humility is as important as assertiveness in our leaders.
Transparency is the best defence against malcontent. If the general populace see and understand what is going on around us they will generally support the actions of the government. Unfortunately transparency is often the opposite of national security. This makes government a tightrope which the President, his cabinet and congress have to tread carefully.
The government must be open with what they can and explain why they can’t reveal what must be kept secret.
We are a fantastic people, our will is strong and I know we can come together on this if we just treat each other with the respect we deserve

Dignity First, Dignity Forever!
Voted champ.. and that tight rope is a precarious one..
I love how you sum up my views in a nutshell.
And I like the tightrope analogy.
It's true, give too much and you expose us to the enemies, but give too little and you expose us to our own inner demons.
Politics is NOT a straight-forward thing.
It's precarious and a constant balancing act.
The other thing, we are proud. We are impatient. And we DO need an enemy.
As a real life South African, I am only too aware of these facts.
But, as I have come to know myself in a more spiritual way, I came to realise that you can't judge a person easily.
I have found myself a complex and dynamic being. Intricate, with contradictions and ever-changing.
Once we realise that other people are just like us (trying to find their own identity) we will see a lot more tolerance.
And that is what we need most of all.
Tolerance and respect.

Quality article Rico. "Elitism" can be combated with transparency, more involvement from the citizens, and general media coverage of not necessarily what's going on behind the doors of the defense or intelligence departments, but of what jobs congress is performing, what the each other department is up to, and what the average man or woman can do to help the republic in a time of need.
Well said!
Thanks guys! Not really a controversial article but still..
