Presidential Debate Leon vs. LI (July)

Day 2,051, 21:05 Published in South Africa USA by AdUnit

Hello everyone and welcome to my second Presidential Debate that I've created. I contacted both candidates, Léon Reno (Radical Thought Party) and LiquidIce (South African Gold Party formerly a member of IA). Both candidates have their unique strengths and weaknesses and I would like to compare them in this article to help you decide who to vote for.

Question 1 (Brazil): What type of relationship do you believe we should have with Brazil in the future? Do you see them as an ally that we can potentially rekindle our relationship with or do you see them as an enemy who has abused us for years?

Leon: We don't have to build our relations based on "hatred" with them. We have a long history and there are players who still like them. However, they are no longer our ally.

LiquidIce: If we are able to have a normal relationship instead of them renting regions and abusing power, then yes. Brazil is a good ally to have, but this time it should be on OUR terms, IF and only IF we decide to rekindle our relationship.

Question 2 (Allies): Do you see NaN as a valuable way to protect our country? Who do you see as our greatest ally now that Australia has left us?

Leon: Aus did the best thing for the future of her. They are under CoT pressure and had no other choice to join anti-CoT side. NaN is a good "term" as diplomatical but we need more when the issue is military.

LI: I would prefer not to answer this as I know very little about alliances. That is why I will pick the best military advisors to help guide me as well as teach me more about alliances.

Question 3 (Economy):

Both candidates support renting regions that don't give us bonuses.

Question 4 (Military): As a member of the Black Mambas and as a former member of many different military units I have noticed that there are little to no drops for people who need them. We have fought many battles recently with many more on the horizon, how do you plan on implementing a drop program that is fair and will benefit eSA?

Leon: Having soldiers from different time-zones is great actually. I still have an idea to organize massive attacks with all soldiers and I'm going to try it If I get elected.

Because eSA is such a diverse country, we need a diverse plan for drops. The ideal situation would be to have at least 4 people working in shifts. A roster should be worked out to work out who takes which shift due to the fact that people stay in different timezones. Not everyone is online at the same time. Not all drops should be on IRC. We have ingame shouts available, we really should start using it. Another idea would be to have set times per day drops will be done, that way soldiers who need weapons know that they should request weapons before cut off or wait for the next drop. Unfortunately, eSAAF is to big to do automated drops like the Mambas.

A second issue that needs to be addressed is stock. Currently eSAAF is running a programme called MUST. Great idea, but needs to be implemented differently. Should I become CP, I will work with eSAAF to help them finetune MUS

Question 5 (PTO Threats): Do you currently see any PTO threats right now? How do you feel about the large presence of Lazo's in eSA?

Leon: When people face with sth unfair, they are willing to broke the rules. We saw this on forum issue. However, It doesn't mean they want to harm this country. So I don't think there is a harmful group right now. About Lazos, as I mentioned my article, my goal is zero illegal acceptance this month.

LI: I do not wish to elaborate on the PTO situation at present, especially not in public. But wrt the large presence of Lazo's in eSA, they have 'signed' a 'contract' with eSA to help out with the goldmine at a price. They were paid and the goldmine was won. Now they are still here, multiplying by the day. My fellow CP candidate has previously acknowledged that they are here to help him 'teach eSA a lesson' because we apparently organised an 'ato against' him. Unless they do not oblige by eSA rules, then there is no legit place for them in eSA. We are grateful for their help when we needed it! And by all means, I do not say they are not welcome at all, but each country has rules and their citizens should obey those rules. Which is why I say, stay, but respect our rules if you want to be called a citizen of eSA.

Question 6 (Forum): Do you believe the forum is a necessity for members who want to be active? Or do you believe that it is broken (like many other eSA members do) and refuse to use it?

Leon: Nope, I don't think that it's necessary. However, If any member like to get involved in country issues, he has to use forums or IRC. I had to stay active on IRC for at least 10 hours in Iran for instance, because I wasn't active on forums. But South Africa offers us an easy way. I said forum is over because there was no activity. But I had to come back due to Russia-Brazil issues. On the other hand, seem like everyone is happy with Zansi' last topic which is asking to cooperation with community.

I do not believe that the forum is the wheels of eRep the game. eRep has given us newspapers, shouts and pms. How is this different from forums? Except for certain areas which can be private in a forum. The rest is the same concept. See the newspapers as the cafe part of the forum. Someone starts a newspaper (thread), and the rest follows with comments. In fact, eRep has modified the comment system so you can reply on a specific comment without having to quote. The forums dont have that comment ability. Parties and MU's should start using their shoutboxes ingame more often. It is there for use, so use it.
I do think the current forum is broken. I have stated so many times. I know I cannot do a better job, but I know that people need to listen. Current forum admin did not listen to the people. In fact, forum admin is still not listening. Seeing as we are not using eRep tools for communication, I unfortunately have to make use of the forums. The same goes for IRC. I do not use it. I do not like it. It is overrated. But because apparently a CP is obliged to use IRC, I will do so if I get elected.

Question 7 (New Players)😃o you have any plans to bring new players into eSA via a legitimate baby boom? Or perhaps by recruiting military units/players without a home?

Leon: Few months ago, I was planning to publish ads on facebook for eSouth Africa. But as I understand, there are not so much players who regularly use internet due to technical issues. If there is a chance for babyboom, I will do my best. Recruiting military units might be good for both our economy and military power, but community proved that they are against sth like before.

LI: Do you have any plans to bring new players into eSA via a legitimate baby boom? Or perhaps by recruiting military units/players without a home?
I do not foresee a baby boom in the near future. We first need to get our current ctizens more active. There is no use in pushing numbers is more than half of them is slowly dying. We need to bring back programmes to help these dying citizens. Or we need to reinvent the wheel and get new programmes to 'activate' citizens.

Closing Statements

Leon: This month will be very critical for South Africa. Actually it's the most important month after 2 years. I'm asking our people to vote with wisdom, not emotions.

LI: Even if I do not get elected as CP, I would like to see some of these issues addressed and the divisions are more than welcome to use my ideas

Good luck to both candidates and thank you for their time. Sorry this article is a little long but there was a lot of information that everybody needed to see to become educated voters. Everybody stand for something you believe in and make sure to vote for a better eSA!
