Next Election and TD Retention Rate
einberliner
When the next election comes, on September 25th, I've no intention of putting myself forward because I know I'll only be active for the first half of that term (my RL 'summer' holiday is taking place in October, so I'll be missing for a fortnight. I'll have access but at best I'll be a two clicker most days, and I wouldn't want to be knee deep in politics on my hols anyway) and so far my plan is to stand again next month for the term that runs to Nov 25th, though that means putting myself forward and posting my manifesto while still in the US (I fly back early the day after that election day. Yes I do think far ahead - what can I say? I'm a planner.)
While thinking about all this I noticed something. We elected 40 TDs on August 25th, it's now September 12th, almost two weeks until the next election round, and by my count we've lost at least five TDs one way or another in that time. Of the 35 that we do have I believe there are a reasonable number that don't get involved in the dail on the forums.
I know RL happens, also that we lost a couple in interesting circumstances there a week back, but to have lost 1 in 8 of our TDs in a fortnight seems very high to me. Is that usual?

It is unfortunatly
keep watching ,, there will be more .. ive noticed there are a few who only become active days b4 elections and a day two after elections they "disappear" again,
@Pip in that case I almost feel I should offer to stand for the sake of the fortnight (though if I actually won on that condition the 5g would be with one of the goverment accounts so fast it'd leave a smoke trail) because at least people would know for two weeks they'd have a worker bee in their corner.
I won't, but I'm tempted. Lol.
yep.
thats the size of it.
some of our TD's likes their gold more than they likes their peoples ... oohh aarr
I think you should run even if your only active for 2 weeks it'll be more active then a good few who get elected.
I agree with Pip. Although I can see where you are coming from. If you can't put your full effort in, you don't want to shortchange the people.
I still haven't decided if I want to put forward yet or not. I would be running in Cork and Kerry if I did.
@Edana I think you've proven with the ministry you'd work your backside off if elected, and I think you'd be good at it. I'll be around up 'til October 12th and will help you make head and tail of the dail, if you needed (I know my first two days on there I went 'on mother of god what in the name of eGod have I done?' because it's a busy old place at times).
i am running this month, and trust me i will be active all the time, and i have had a month exrpince of doing it so i know it is annoying to have people just win for the G.
Totally. I mean I work full time (six days, many weeks) and have other RL commitments and such to keep up with and I manage to keep up, if I hadn't I'd have stepped down.
I'd say I'd have returned the gold but I spent the gold on advertising eIreland. Lol.
I'm looking forward to hearing more from you JohnSmith, you have burst on the Irish scene quite recently, and I've been interested to follow your views.
.
In general, congress is a busy and tough place. It needs commitment. Maybe standing congress should share more of the real requirements? Then candidates would be more informed?
@Grainne I think it'd be handy to have someone to be a designated point of contact for new TDs too. I mean seriously when you first log onto the dail EVERY thread is new, pretty much, and finding the current ones, knowing where you're meant to vote/sign in etc. that first couple days takes a heavy amount of reading.
thanks Grainne, i hope i have your support, i won`t say much now, but i will try and change Ireland for the better but only if the people want it, since if i get elected i will be for the people
@John Where are you thinking of standing?
Cork and Kerry,
Nice region!
lets work on that then...sounds good.
tumbleweed in congress makes me cry.
thanks, i hope i can get elected and help change Ireland
*sad there will be less donuts around*
You should run with the 2 week contingency outlined in your manifesto. Let the people decide if theyd rather have an active government official for 2 weeks, or an inactive one for a month.
I think Octavius has an excellent point there. Two weeks of Donut beats a month of many others... sad but very true.
Bring it on, Johnny! I like competition. 😉
If you buy both companys it will cost you 45 Gold, but if only one of them, then Weapon Company will cost 35 Gold and Wood Company will cost 20 Gold
Q1 Weapon Company - 300 Stock of Iron (4 Gold + 200 LV ( 2.8 Gold) + 20 Stock of Weapons ( 2.5 Gold)
It is profitable company in a day you gona earn about 0.5 gold... with employees growing their manufacturing skill more than 0.5 a day...

I also plan on running next month and as some of the people who know we well im quite the active citizen, oh and also John if your planning on running dont forget to put that in the topic in the forums
oh and also i dnt mean to be rude or anything but maybe to stop these people who log on just to win the elections and dont come back on after should be named and shamed just to alert the voting public to what they are doing, it may be unfair to them but their stopping people who can contrabute a huge amount to eIreland like john smith from getting elected
I Agree with oj,, naming those inactive TDs ! just let people know who which TD's been ridiculously inactive in last month ,, It will give them TDs a chance to explain their absence .
I agree with that also mainly because I'm always active and contributing to the Dail on a regular basis.
@oj et al Well Dash's activity sheet should help with that...
@donut is that not just on forum ?? we cud do with info in the media
I think he plans on bringing the info to the media but wanted to let it build up to get an accurate assessment of the TDs.... think he said that in the thread.
sounds good ,,
@Sean and Castaneda I'm pretty sure he said he'd share the info closer to the time, yeah.
I think 2 weeks of your excellent self would be far far better to a month of silence from some.
o yeah
Edena i like a bit of compection too, hopefully me and you will be in the Dail, and thanks OJ for saying i would be a good TD, and i agree that we should shame the people who are just there for the G
I left congress because I was itching for a fight, congress is one of the most boring and uneventful places to be to be honest. You have 2 proposals maximum and the country favours partisanship, so fundamentally, no lack of co-operation there.
Then don't run again Imp
I'll be standing for Congress in Dublin. I've been an active citizen here for a long time, and I think it's time I gave back. Also, the Irish Social Democrats need a face-lift.

I couldnt disagree more with this. Last week there were 3 major votes and many proposal discussions. Today alone, there are SIX proposals in the vote stage, including another Constitutional Amendment and a in-depth debate on personal rights.
If you want to be a part of how this country runs, then you want to be a part of the Dail. If you dont, well then, scratch your itch and quit on your constituents and go off and fight.
To einberliner and Castenada:
Please feel free to visit the office of the Ceann Comhairle on the forum and look for my TD Performance Tracker. Anyone is welcome to view it, and I will indeed be publishing it in the media prior to elections.
The document can be complicated, but feel free to ask questions in the thread on the forums and Ill be sure to answer them. Please make sure you read the thread intro before you open the document and fully understand the purpose.
@dishraprik i know wer the tracker is in forum ,, i asked if it was gonna be published i media ,, you've answered that ,thanks,
How long b4 election will the info be in the media ?
for those who cant wait ;;;
we have 12 congress members who have voted twice or less
8 members who are not registered in forums
9 members who have not voted on any forum based legislation. They are
5n4keyes, Aeryn kelly, Benedictus augustus, Bernie gumble, Orgel, Crusader9872, Daniel kaffe, Farci tibo, and Liam neeson.
If u include two members who have resigned we have 35% of congress who are not participating in the voting process ,, I find this unf**king believeable and shows contempt for the people of our fair isle
Casteneda, it was not your place to publish that data. I said Id publish before the elections, when it is complete and most useful. I have a specific duty to present that information, and I have a specific idea for how I want to present it.
You are out of line.
Id appreciate it if you removed your post.
dishriprack,, the data is in a public place,
and no ,,,
response to your pm to me ......if u dont want it published it shouldnt be in public domain,, it should be published weekly and not just b4 elections as many people miss the media on the day its published,,, that article on retention rate was out yesterday morning
The data is public so that other people can do their own research and follow along, not take the data and start pre-mature witchhunts.
I SPECIFICALLY stated in the thread, that I will not allow the information to be used for this kind of thing.
That spreadsheet IS NOT complete, I dont care how many days are left. Things change, this is not complete data, and I have not commented on it.
I ask you again, as Ceann Comhairle, to take down that data. If you do not, I shall remove the spreadsheet from the public so that NO ONE can see it.
For what kind of thing ??? Where's the witch-hunt?
Work away remove the spreadsheet,, im sure that will go down well ,, not allowed to re-print material thats already in public domain ,, Who do u think you are ?
I see you have removed the spreadsheet from public domain now ,,, way to go ..
