It's a hard knock life..
Why is it a picture of a big breasted women here?
You will need it for comfort. This the only cheerful thing in this article.

Companies have been created today, tons of them.
But you will not work there since you will demand a salary. Company owners can from now on - or at least for the moment until Admin changes it - work in their own companies, all of them and only lose 5 health per company.
What does this mean in theory?
If I would focus on Iron producing and buy 60 Q1 Iron companies, that's a lot of gold for buying companies. But let's continue.
If I worked at every company with 95 respectively 100 wellness it would only cost me 300 wellness of food. With full booster I produce 27 Q5 Food / day, I could produce that in a friends company at the cost of .99 gold and some awful cheap grain.
Let's say it would cost 2 golds to produce, that will be way to much but just to have something to calculate with and a safe marginal.
So how much Iron would I produce daily then?
Are you ready?
The answer - at my current skill level is 21 360 units.
Thats 0.00009 gold / iron produced or about 0.006 SEK / iron. Yesterday the market price was about 23 times as high.
The same would apply if I produced grain in a country with a grain region.
These are the theoretical costs, but there will always be those who goes for the extremes and create 20, 30 or even 60 companies. Working at more than 60 companies would force them to buy wellness with gold and it would cost to much. With a house you could stretch the amount of companies a little bit further.
A historic reflection
I remember when raw materials where introduced in the first place in eRepublik, it had an huge impact and eSwedens and perhaps the worlds biggest capitalist at the time Ziggyzag gave up both his career as capitalist - he fired 230 workers just in one company and lost his willpower to continue playing the game and leading eSweden as President.
http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/my-days-as-a-general-manager-are-over-689951/1/20
I wrote this in a comment to his article back in 2008:
"Ziggyzag is the land fader of eSweden.
These companies are institutions, I do sure hope someone can take over this heritage and fill those shoes. DRK Group is also struggling but with good hopes for the future.
With Ziggyzag still in the Swedish politics Sweden will always be strong. The shaky transformation from Beta to V1 has for sure shaken Sweden but not nearly as much as most other countries. I say for sure that www.erepublik.se and our strong friendship and sometimes black humour is to thank for that.

So we have been through troubled times before and we will come out on top again. We need to pay special attention to the new citizens, the new players with low rank and low skill. We must provide them with work, with salaries and make them grow strong.
But equally important, we must survive ourselves through this fimbul winter. I predict that few beta giants will have the energy to create dozens of companies and they might feel that they will fall behind.
My advice can only be: when in eRepublik despair, click twice, there is always a new exiting accident around the corner and deep inside you are too curious to miss it.

thanks for your good article.
Voted and subscribed.
I don\'t know, I don\'t see any reason to keep people in this game whos main purpose is to destroy the game. How would you feel if Goons came to Sweden and took over it destroying everything you and your friends and your people worked for together? (Or Maybe I misunderstood?)
the admins are just.. well, we all know how. 🙂 I get banned for calling \"Pakistan a whole nation of liars\" however the pakis do not get banned for calling the whole Sweden and the whole Spain \"pig-disgusting\" .. but that ban was because that certain admin was under pressure after going inside their irc channel.
great article
A good read. voted
ye, voted btw.
Och, där rök ännu en bra artikel på grund av spam.. 🙁
Seriously.
If you read through the SA forums, you\'ll find the true reason for the probation (not ban), at the same time you should know that goons do not have leaders. We are leaderless - we just flock to where the fun is - called a goon-rush.
We\'re completely disorganized, follow whoever has the most fun idea, and do whatever we feel like in the meantime. Do you honestly think it\'ll be hard to find leaders in such an environment?
The most fun about eRepublik is the cry-babies, we do not, unlike some of your presidents (in turkey) multi-account, we do not play the game by anything but the rules. And based on this people think we\'re unfair - well - we are, but we play by the rules.
Should you fear us?
I don\'t think so - I rather think you should join us in having a bit of fun.
I mean - I\'ve sofar been told that my mother is a whore, my dad a pimp (in something resembling dutch), that people will kill me (in spanish), that I will get sodomized (again in spanish) and that I have STD (english this time). If that isn\'t fun - then what is?
But... The fairness of the game is seriously compromized by the all-knowing admins, who think that a good way of repairing a bad economic model (seriously have they never heard about national economics?) is to interfere with an economy. This just makes it even more fun - right now we\'re looking at a defacto communist world, where God is a Marxist!
So - thankyou for your voice, but I do not think we should change a thing - I like God to be a communist.
/serious
And now we need to do something about the Nazi spaniards - they are interring women in camps as we speak!
And how about those swedish suicide pilots?? I know the swedes have the largest suicide rate in the world, but this is totally awesome - turning a problem into a national ressource? Flammbar is a messiah!!!
@Aryamehr, the point is that the Admin - or rahter the game developer - haven\'t been able to properly solve to problem to why Erepublik catches the same cold over and over again.
The quick fixes have only made it gone from bad to worse.
Sure this is Betaversion but the problems have been known for months and the Admin/Game developers seem unable to handle it. The Goons are here because they can do what they do since Erepublik provides with the tools to do it. If it didn\'t they would be some where else and others - perhaps more constructive players would be here instead.
@Feliz Sombrero, according to official statistics we doesn\'t even make top ten. But after the poor results in the Olympic games we might \'improve\' the figures so we can live up to the myth you obviously has bought. 🙂
Hi Misho, tks for your article, I agree with some of your points in particular the fact that you need good guys and \"bad\" guys to make things fun. On the subject of us being one step behind again it is correct but it is a deliberate choice. This beta version is one where we actually want to spot all these things and issues with the game mechanics, so we can have a V1 with a much stronger gaming backbone. So instead of putting out tons of little fires in the beta we only put out the really big ones and concentrate on delivering a V1 that will solve most of the little fires and bring everyone\'s experience and enjoyment to another level. Hope it make sense ;o)
@Alexis, sure that is what Betatesting is all about. But you honestly doesn\'t seem to come up with the creative solutions to fix the problems we have. The story from the Beta shall continue in V1 and by that the problems, or grass fires we have here today might turn into big forrest fires until the real cure is here.
For exemple the \'quick fix\' presented today that a country shall not be able to print as much currency as they have been done. You must realize that a country with 4000 citizens has a bigger economy than a country with 50 citizens - right? Still you provide the same limit amount for both the huge country as the tiny one.
That will lead to misuse and cause problems.
\"The limit is set at 100.000 units of local currency per month.\"
That is to much for tiny contries and to little for large ones - Make it so it depends on country population.
The nations population multiplied with 100(?).
A country with a population of 2000 would be able to print 200 000 per month and a country with 100 would be able to print 10 000 per month. That would give a much better and much more stable tool then this one.
Thanks for giving us a good game and hope we can continue to develope it \'togheter\' as a player community that adds content to it everyday!
/Misho
Misho... Come-on..
I know you guys have eSuicide camps - where you hide the ebodies!
And may I ask... who creates the statistics - eh?
The swedes!
Need more be said?
Btw Misho - it wasn\'t a homojoke that got him probated - it was because he uttered the word \'lulz\' - which is af bloddy meme, and we hates memes bra!
Besides - what this game needs is to get its economic engine fixed - and you don\'t do that by preventing hyperinflation.. Goddamnit - they could have used a small-minded ISLM model, even any of Solow\'s models - Nash models would do fine aswell.. but no.. they had to do their own Excel model...
Brilliant!
Btw: Doesn\'t speak for the Goons - nobody can!
@Alexis - sure and one of the fires it the blatant misuse of power by admins.. how will you quell that one ??
Alexis, when do Greek lands get restored to Greece? Since the Balkan War was most likely funded using illegitimate gold, the results of the war are invalid and should be reversed.
How many euro do you need to restore Greece?
HAIL TO THE GREAT GODEMPEROR, LORD OF ALL EREPUBLIK PHAEDRUS LIDOX.
MAY THE FIRE OF HIS EYES GUIDE US THROUGH THE DARK SHADOW CAST BY THE EVIL UNBELIEVERS.
Bra gjort som alltid...
Good done.
@misho, I agree with you its a quick fix and not ideal. @feliz I\'m not the admin but know them quite well ;o) I don\'t think they misuse their power (doesn\'t mean they don\'t make mistakes some times, they are human after all). @JohnDaker you will be able to do something about that with the liberation module in V1.
@Alexis, thanks for your replies. And I guess the methods chosen quite often have something to do with what\'s fastest to program rather than what would be the ideal solution. I also understand that V1 is a total rebuild programwise and hopefully we can find better solutions there!
Thanks again.

Goons are a terrible plague to anyone trying to have serious fun in games like E republic!!
Mangosteen, you need us. Imagine how boring this game would be if you were only allowed to log in, eat, train, and log out. We give you an enemy. We cause international crises. Sure, some insane people might enjoy playing this game as a sort of masturbatory ritual without real drama... but bringing drama into the game, like we do, makes it something that more people can enjoy.
Yes we\'re a blight, but we\'re a blight that you want and need, oh yeah, baby.
Misho, very good article my friend!
- sure that we need bad guys and good guys, that doesn\'t mean that we should allow the \"bad guys\" to break the rules
- taxes - already fixed few months ago. the 99% tax percent is the maximum amount (and 50% for the incomes)
- the limit of 100.000 currency - it\'s a temporary rule, in V1 the system will be changed and a new rule will be needed
- gold for invitation system - it\'s the only way, besides \"buy gold\" that allows gold to enter erepublik. Also it helps countries increase their number of citizens. The system will be much improved in V1.
- new citizens won\'t be able to vote anymore in day 1 in v1
We have more problems but we have solutions. I think we will always have problems and, until some point, those problems are part of the Erepublik world. They are very similar with the real life problems when building a new society.
Very good article and very intetersting comments by both Alexis and George. I totally agree on most things, especially the part about \'bad guys\'. That\'s what I\'ve been thinking since the beginning but you really put the words to it.
The most interesting thing is that goons haven\'t destroyed anything. It is the people who were in power when goons came to the game who decided to burn the house down rather than have some goons live in it.
Greece - Capelli King prints tons of money and runs off with it because goons were going to take political power
Turkey - Selcuck1907 prints EVEN MORE MONEY than Capelli and distributes it to his buddies.
Mexico - Alfonso takes money for the treasury and then starts a war.
Goons don\'t need to do anything, destruction is caused by YOUR fear.
If only the people in power decided to wait before rash actions, this would be an economically stable e-World.
Good article, voted and subscribed.
I like being the \"bad\" guy 😃
the article is ok, but you have a lot of facts (like why phaedrus is on probation - not banned from sa) incorrect. if you\'re going to state things as facts you should probably try to make sure that they actually are.
We really do just want to kick down your sandcastles. All of them.
Someday you all will look back at this time in your lives and laugh, or cry.
Viva eBasque!
Wait, why are we the bad guys again?
^ sumthin bout sandcastles.
