Helping eIreland to Grow

Well lads, it's me again. Before I launch into it I'd like to ask you to please vote this article up and reply if you've any opinion on it at all, or any suggestions as to how I could hone my own suggestion below. I really am focused on helping eIreland grow for the good of the nation but I'm just one eCit among many here, and I don't want to do anything that the nation as a whole thinks would be best left undone.

First off I'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who responded to my last article. I had some very helpful suggestions from a number of people and a hugely positive response via PM too. However I've found that mostly I reached existing eIrish people, less so the newcomers (though I have gotten to talk to a couple, so that's something). I'll be updating you all on my progress with that later in this article because first I want to put a new idea to you all.

Since I first wrote I've been doing more reading around, lurking on the eIrish forums and reading old articles by people who've been around longer than me. Reading new articles too, actually, because it's clear that growing our community is something that eIreland as a whole is concerned about.

I've been doing some more brainstorming.

Today I almost took out an ad but before I do I decided to run it by my fellow eIrish citizens. I was thinking of targetting it to the world at large and making a simple little avi for it. The title would be something like, 'Don't feel at home in your eNation?' only truncated because I'm sure that wouldn't fit, and the blurb would indicate that eIreland is looking to be a home to fresh citizens.

The link would be to an article on this paper that promoted Ireland as a friendly, active nation with helpful citizens and general all around good craic. It would at no point imply that citizenship was guarenteed (that's up to the government and not me) but would invite them to come over and check us out, at least.

I was considering offering something for coming across but I'm not rich and that could get expensive fast. Plus the more I think about it the more I think we could use people who come because they want to, not because they're in it for a quick freebie. I could afford about 20,000 imprints, I think, though if there was a good response to those I'd maybe run a second set when I get hardworker in a few days time.

Anyway maybe we'd only get a handful of noobs out of it but I figured it was worth the go anyway. Anyone responding to the ad would still have to get past the members of congress so that should weed out spies and the like. I felt I should put the idea forward as it's something I'd like to do but, like I said, I'd really like the opinions of others on this.

In the meanwhile...

As for the project I started in my last article that is definitely ongoing. I've realised a hell of a lot of people sign up for eRepublik and never make it past level 0 (which I did within minutes, myself, so I kinda wonder how that happened) and that on the list of all our citizens it's around levels 4-6 that you find people more likely to stick around (I learned this by randomly sending PMs or gifts to people from each level up to six... no responses from anyone less than level three at all, one from a four and one from a six).

With this learned I am this week, probably on Wednesday, going to go back to the list and PM all the people on level three, mostly to say hi and direct them to my first article, see if there's anything they need a hand with. Once I've seen the response from that I'm going to do the level fours a few days later, and possibly the twos (though I'll be checking when they all last logged in before doing that. We've a lot of folks stuck on level two that have clearly wandered off from what I saw on my first look over the list). Even if I only get a couple of responses it'll be something.

Again, for clarity's sake, I'm not asking for funding/donations here. I can afford to do what I'm doing for now and if I get into bother it'll only be because the response has been fantastic, and I'll be sure to let ye all know if that happens lol.
