This sounds wonderful. In a utopian society it might work. (That's a topic of debate for way outside this thread.) In a game such as this, it sucks.
Plato has done everything in his power to make things an even playing field and easy for beginners. This sounds wonderful for retention. You automatically are self sufficient as far as food is concerned. Health Points no longer mean anything except as a limit to working too many companies or fighting. Buy-bots soak up excess production so that everyone can make some money but no one really gets rich. Fighting is meaningless unless you seek Battle Hero or Campaign Hero Medals. (Unless you are a gold whore and just like to click the Fight button.)
This used to be a strategy game. Where is the strategy? Where is the motivation to purchase a little gold to start a company? To start a newspaper? To run for Party President? To do anything? I am sorry, Admins, if I have said unkind things to you in the past. I was upset that you were making 'my' game less fun with each 'improvement'. I cannot in any way figure how to fix the economy you have ended up with. Short of wiping everything and giving everyone say 50 gold and 1000 in local currency, deleting all monies and gold other than that.
Before everyone screams "NO", look around at who's buying food. Just consider that ALL players make their own food. Let that sink in for a moment. Now consider how high the wages are for all skill levels. Where do you think the money to pay these people is coming from? How is it that everyone is making money from workers when no one is buying food?
It is so fair the way people find your paper now. No Org votes, not top five, no citizen ads. No little green dot to tell when you have a subscription available. Hunt and dig through endless clutter to find what you want to read. It is so fair.
Why do I fight? Something to do I suppose. What else is there to do? Everyday I fight because no reason not to with food I make myself for free. I help take a region, tomorrow it's gone again. Next week we'll take it back again. But it's all fair and even. No real winners, no real loosers, we are all happy because it's even and fair.
Do me a favor and remove the line in the Welcome Page, "eRepublik is the first massive online social strategy game.". It has no real strategy to it anymore. With the nearly complete removal of the forum and in game newspapers, it is not very social. Finally, IMO it is rapidly becoming not a game but rather a Facebook replica.

I swear, retarded FB games are more fun... and they are horrible... Playing Canasta with the old lady down the street requires more strategy.
There are several things admin could do right away to fix this. The most important to to offer a local currency to gold exchange. Next, limit health packs, to something like 100, like in v1 and adjust the gold exchange limit to a realistic 50 gold a day. I have other fixes in mind, that are easy to do and would make a real game difference, but.... they cannot listen if they don't have ears.
