Join the new world

As we draw nearer to congress elections, we look at the role congress plays in this great nation of ours. In eRepublik we have three elections that go on. Country President (CP); Party President (PP) and Congress elections. PP and CP elections are very important but in my opinion congress elections may be the most important.

Congress members have a very specific role in this nation.



The voting in of laws. Almost on a daily basis congress is called to vote. Although many of the laws proposed are donation transfers to the reserve bank of South Africa (which are important as the financial aspect of the country depends on these transfers), but the congress members also vote on who we are in alliance with as well as change to tax and various other matters that cabinet and the president can not do on their own and need the majority vote from congress.



Another thing that congress can do is grant citizenship to players applying. This may well be one of the most important responsibilities given to a congressman. As I have been in congress this last month I have on numerous occasions been offered a bribe to grant citizenship to a player as gold and money is hard to come by, our integrity and patriotism is the only thing that stops us.
The concern with this is the possibility of what we know as a political take over (PTO). What these individuals do is attack the nation via the political system, when they do this they can donate what they want, approve who they want and cut of supply to our military. That is why as a true citizen of this nation we need to stop look at our candidates who are running for office. We need to check are they approved by the PP, are they okayed by the MoS, do they have the best interest of the community at heart. So sure the 5gold received for the win is great but should not be the only reason.

This brings us to why the Union of Patriots is doing things differently. The party believes in the responsibility of congress and has decided to develop new players and old in the skills and roles of eSA congress. We have started the shadow program and all our candidates will be running with a shadow, so in essence we will be voting in two players for each candidature, the elected congress person and their shadow.



So as we await the announcement of all candidates for congress I remind all eSA that we have a very real threat of PTO and we call on all members of the community not to vote for cool names, but rather do the work and vote for people who are approved and active members of society.
