Best of Times or Worst of Times

When Dickens wrote these words at the beginning of his novel about the French Revolution, which had occurred six decades before, little did anyone think that they would resonate with the 21st century in either eRepublik or the fabled Real World; yet, such is the wisdom of our new media czarina/propaganda czar, the fabulous PQ, that he pointed this out without hesitation. He may or may not have come to regret it.

Everyone who has played eRepublik probably has at least one best and one worst memory. My worst, *somewhat* tongue-in-cheek, might be in the fall of 2009, when my son talked me into joining to help him with his Society Builder medal (which he never completed). He quit a few months after, but by that time I had become hooked on the community in eBelgium, where I learned a lot about how people outside the US see the world, and although I left that community several years ago and eventually wound up back in the eUS, largely thanks to TheNorm, there are people there I will never forget, so it could also be the best of times. Like most players who have been around for a while, I have had both great and awful times since then, but it is always the community that drives those good and bad times for me.
