As I've always suspected

Why does a troll, troll?
Sounds like a riddle, but it's really simple question. Most of us have made comments, that by someone's measure could be considered trolling. I read something just this morning that seems at least to shed some scientific light on the subject. The link is here
The fact is we are, as erepublik players, more psychologically akin than we would like to admit. As such, quite likely compelled to return day after day for reasons we don't understand.
Or, maybe we are all just jerks who like picking on each other. 🙂
Makes ya think a bit.
Also, can someone else please subscribe to my paper, it's been at 666 for a while now. I'm not religious in any way, but it's still freaking me out.

subbed, now it ends in 69.
I'm pretty sure I read a couple months back some study found people who were internet trolls displayed more sadistic behaviors in their everyday lives and showed less empathy than normal people. It's just their nature, then?
You're assuming they didn't troll the tests aswell.
Trolling might have to do something with control.
By trolling & making someone angry you 'control' his emotions, thus "proving" your "superiority" and "power" over another individual, as you're being able to control his emotions.
"Trolling" can be an intellectual exercise.
- Picking deliberate fights and engaging in heated debates can teach you how to argue more effectively.
- Being deliberately objectionable can build confidence - theoretically, one might be less worried about coming across as offensive by accident if one goes out of his way to do it intentionally once in a while.
- Picking fights with people of equal or greater intellect can be educational. One might learn new facts and data that might otherwise have gone unrecognized.
- Deliberately provoking an emotional response in another can help develop objective, critical thinking. One can see the "mistakes" the opponent makes and can learn to avoid making similar emotional mistakes.
- Internet sadism provides an outlet for pent-up frustrations so that we do not have to torment "real-life" friends, family and peers.
- It can be funny as hell to watch a great "troll" thread. Laughter releases neurochemicals and whatnot that promote brain health.
Also, it is fun being a jerk who likes picking on people. Thumbs up!
That's being a bit apologetic to most trolls if you ask me, but that's my own opinion about it
No, trolls are monsters from fairy tales you dullard.
God is also a monster from a fairy tale yet billions of people pretend to believe in him. Not sure how this is relevant.

This is all very confusing to me.
Wait what, buying gold outside of +50% promos? You must be trolling us.
'Twas 'Buy for a friend get 50% back' special. 🙂
I suppose I like telling people they are worthless bags of flesh who should ponder the practical applications of natural selection. Plato generally frowns on this and reminds me that I should not send ill wishes to their customer base.
All of the "politics" and "patriotism" in this game is just a big trolling.
