eFormula One

So far we have 4 teams registered for the competition. There are still 7 slots ready so get in quick!

I am taking a team for this competition in an effort to keep some of that GOLD 😃 To make things fair my cars will be limited to 6th gear.

A few people have messaged me asking how to play the competition. Here is how it works TL😃R version:

1. You watch the Hot Lap video I post to YouTube which features the track we are about to race on.
2. You fill in the form I will link when the time comes with your chosen setup. Some races you will need to formulate a pit stop strategy.
3. Wait a few days while I simulate everything.

OK! Now on to the story of my first days...

The First Moments

I joined eRepublik while it was still in Closed Beta following an invite from my dad. As I was filling out the registration form I noticed something... Australia (my RL nation) was missing from the country list. I was slightly devastated by that thinking the game devs hadn't put my nation in. After a bit of thought I decided to be born in the United Kingdom. It was the closest I could get at the time.

It wasn't until a few weeks later that I discovered that the reason my country did not appear in the list was because Australia had been attacked and conquered by Indonesia, but I'm getting ahead of myself here.

The First Days

One of my first acts was to join a political party (this was wayyyyyy before you needed to be a certain level to do things - which caused a LOT of trouble on election day!) My first political party was the United Kingdom Reform Party which still exists today as UKs largest party. I also made friends with the legendary statesman with the hot avatars, Dishmcds. Dish helped develop me and train me as a player. Eventually down the line we diverged (we never seemed to agree ideologically) but I still look at Dish with some fondness for his help in my early days.

My first couple months were fairly uneventful. I worked every day and trained almost every day (training cost me wellness and wasn't giving me any money - I was flat broke for a while and couldn't afford the higher Q food I needed to maintain 100 wellness). I absolutely refused to beg for money. I wanted to earn my stuff through the sweat of my brow and the strength of my own back.

I didn't fight at all however for the longest time. It wasn't until I achieved 5 strength that I fought at all.

I hear you laughing, "5 strength!?! BAhAHAHAHAHA I get that every day!" In my days you got 0.5 strength for your first two trainings. Then 0.25 until strength 2. After that, you would only gain 0.1 strength a day. Strength level 5 could be achieved in 36 days. (This is from memory only but this seems close enough to get my point across.)

A couple months after my birth, I was starting to make money and was able to maintain my own wellness finally! Then to my horror and dismay, I made a grievous error on the monetary market.

You see I visited the Gold --> GBP market and managed to confuse myself so thoroughly I posted an offer of 4 GOLD... where 1 GOLD was worth 0.02 GBP. I log in the next day and see "Your offer of 4 GOLD on the monetary market was bought for 0.08 GBP."

Needless to say, I've never made that mistake again!

Two months after my birth, I was nominated by the UKRP to run for Congress in London. I was honoured by the people of London with their votes and became a Congressman for the first time.

Boy that month opened my eyes. All the politics, all the discussions, all the secrets of other nations we weren't supposed to know about but did... all this excited me.

With this excitement I began pouring in my efforts in mastering the politics of the game. I was never a Congressman again in the UK, I was content to work behind the scenes.

Shortly afterwards I joined the world of cloak and dagger. I joined the UKs Mi6. I won't go into too many details here, but I'll just say that Indonesia's MoD for those few months... was in my pocket.

I left the Mi6 because I had made my own intelligence service. I had agents all over the world. They all reported to me and they acted according to my requests. I became extremely influential in world politics and yet nobody knew. Just the way I like it. At the time I would have said... Roby Petric? Pah! He is nothing!

These days I have no such network. Ironically most of my agents were banned and the few that remained slowly died off. I couldn't say Petric was nothing anymore lol.

The Greatest Flop in eRepublik History

Then came, in my opinion, the greatest military flop in eRepublik history. ATLANTIS (today's equivalent would be EDEN/TERRA) V PEACE (ONE) in Operation: French Toast.

The UK President Dishmcds posted an article stating that we would be declaring war on France and we would wipe them to all but extinction. We were only to leave Paris as 'a beacon of hope for the future.' The first battle in the war saw DonMogul fight for the first time. Bare handed but I fought nevertheless. UK and her allies had a smashing first day by winning all our battles. We all thought things were going to plan.

Then PEACE woke up.

I was too busy focusing on my own country but I saw enough news to know that we and our allies weren't just being beaten we were being PWND. UK even lost regions she had taken over under agreement from another nation (I forget which one maybe my UK subbers can tell me who it was).

Eventually peace was signed. France was still whole. The PEACE giant had been woken and began to more or less rule the world much like Serbia has done until recently.

National Health Service

After this, the National Health Service was formed in the UK. Each UK region had a NHS clinic ORG. I became the first Director of the London Clinic. Initially our job was to gift daily to people in the ORG's friends list until they reached 90 wellness. We were to purchase Q2 gifts at 4.40 GBP and gift wellness.

CHA CHING!

I have to admit that when the gift prices went up (making my job as Director impossible) I made my own Q2 gifts company and I worked out that I would be making handsome profits if I just had my 10 employees work. I paid them way over market wages but I was still doubling my money for every gift purchased. I sold my gifts at the 4.40 GBP mark (we were under strict orders not to purchase any higher or lower - lower priced gifts were for the general public).

The London Clinic was a sterling success*. The Clinc had most people on 90 wellness within a week and we were always taking in more patients. At one stage people from other clinics complained, "How come Don gets so much more money for his budget than us for our citizens?" I then pointed out that my budget lasted for exactly one week (as we were supposed to do) and showed that in fact my method for calculating the budget was CHEAPER per week than their methods.

*The only time the Clinic didn't work as planned was when there was a bug on the friends list. This bug only had the first 20 patients I had accepted. Never mind the 30+ more I knew I had but could never find in the list thanks to said bug.

The YSC and my Final Days

A couple months before I left the UK, the UKRP had posted up a CP candidate the other parties decided was unsuitable (I had moved to The Unity Party shortly before I became an NHS director). After much negotiation and voting from party members of ALL the other parties in the UK, we all banded together to put up our own candidate, Final Destiny. We dubbed our coalition, The Yellow Submarine Coalition.

This coalition provoked a predictable back lash from UKRP members namely Ray Drayson who posted an article stating that he refused to vote in the election and he dubbed our Coaltion as 'undemocratic'.

I responded to his article with an article of my own. In the comments section I shut down my teacher, Dishmcds with an incisive statement of my own.

Have a read of it here... and don't forget to check the comments section - its one of my best pieces of journalism ever.

The funny thing is though. That my article became pointless. Our candidate DID win the election... but he was a no show. He disappeared off the face of the Earth...

It was this more than anything that caused me to quit my position in the UK cabinet as Under Minister for Health and UK as a whole.
