[Dictator] Clocking out

Day 3,182, 01:18 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Mr Woldy

Citizens

I’m just writing to briefly round up the past week. Since Appleby was impeached I have been managing a caretaker government for the eUK, centred the objective of providing whoever takes over as CP today (Last votes saw Arrlo in the lead by about 30 votes. Somehow I ended up on the ballot and almost came second, so cheers for that whoever you are 😛) the cleanest slate possible from which to steer the country. The chief objective in that was the immediately rethink how we channel our national damage and to place the country in a strong point from which to negotiate a solution to the attack by the USA.

After putting up a good fight in the war and encouraging congress to rethink how they approached remuneration the USA were infact happy to make a settlement before the term ended and as you will have read the War is now considered a training war. A deal which in my eyes is as good as (if not better than) peace. Scotland has been returned to us as our outstanding big tax region and we have reestablished our region's links to the capital. All in all AMD, Sir Jimmy and myself have been able to pull the country out of a bit of a messy situation ready for the next government to take over which I mark down as a significant achievement.

The MoHA has also established its active citizens register and I’ve put myself forward to continue overseeing that for a month to see that it is used to its fullest and becomes a permanent fixture. Likewise the National Service Bulletin has also taken off, and I hope the next gov continues my ambition of establishing an opt-in MoD-to-Citizen messaging service to quickly disseminate orders.

Waking up and realising you can go back to just pushing buttons today

As mentioned previously we owe a thanks to AMD Sir Jimmy, RN and Scorpions for their assistance in fighting the wars, negotiating deals and helping with CO money. All in all the Government spent its 500k cc combat budget and also managed 250k cc of CO that was put forward by Jimmy and myself, plus 60k that Piran put up in orders and 300k that Evil Doc put up in orders. We owe them a debt of gratitude, and may these figures seek to inform Congress or future governments on the type of expenditure the eUK can expect when participating in an actual war.

Lastly I wanted to offer a quick reflection on the discussions about legislative reviews. Such discussions are healthy and important. As I have said in the comments, I believe we need a system that can fit around different levels of congressional activity. But we must also not put up with inactive Congressmen. Under a dictatorship with our meta laws, and under a democracy, an active Congress is what actually keeps the system democratic and accountable. Without one, democratic CP’s can (and always do) fall into a culture of autocracy, as no Congressmen hold them to account and Parliament becomes a rubber stamping committee. The Meta Dictatorship too also suffers from an inactive Congress as it slows down our processes. Every Congressmen who goes inactive is implicit in making us a more autocratic state. They represent one fortieth of our democratically elected representatives. They all have a responsibility to represent. Inactive Congressmen contribute to complacency, and the PP’s who run them should be responsible for that and should stop running people who don’t do anything. The electorate should stop voting for those who do. We need a totally transparent reporting process that will name and shame those who give in on the job they are elected to do, and it needs to be circulated to voters so they can make a good decision on the 25th. (Also Plato please bring back regional voting so people actually have to compete for seats individually so can’t get away with going asleep for a month ta).

Thanks for reading,
Mr Woldy
