[CP] Update Four

Day 2,893, 06:16 Published in Netherlands Netherlands by Het Catshuis

Dear citizens,
A lot has happened since my last time of writing. We're slowly nearing the end of my term and Congress elections are approaching (Dear Party Presidents - make sure you get Congress 100% full this time around). However, it's not in our own country where the most interesting things have happened. Indeed, once again we're overshadowed by the intrigues that have happened in (mainly) the Balkans.
Troubles in the Balkan
Contrary to what I believed was going to happen in the last update - Croatia attacking Hungary -, Croatia decided to attack our ally Serbia. The uneasy peace in the Balkan was bound to be broken as has been shown. With South America - the other ''big'' continent in eRepublik - being peaceful by the continent-wide Non-Aggression Pact T.R.I.C.O a war had to happen in Europe. With an overconfidently Croatia bloated with (black-market) money treasuries and the recent jabs Greece & Croatia have taken at Hungary the die was cast.

After the Croatian declaration of war, Serbia found itself soon enough at war with a lot of nations - who joined in the fun with Croatia; Ireland, Cyprus, Turkey and Albania. The allies of Serbia/Asteria replied in kin😛 Slovenia & Hungary declared war upon Croatia and Brazil & Portugal have attacked Italy in an attempt to aid Serbia. Chile and Paraguay tried to invade their way into Europe as well, but were defeated by Finland and Norway in an surprising turn of events. With the reports that Croatia has already run out of money (and therefore victories) and the expectation that other nations may get involved more directly as well (Bulgaria, Macedonia, Greece, Argentina, Poland etcetera) we can only be optimistic about the coming end of this conflict.

Orion & The Netherlands?
To my surprise we've been approached by Orion alliance to talk about further cooperation and perhaps membership. In my opinion this is a great goal for a nation of our stance and the result of the splendid months we've recently had. It includes nations like Sweden, France and Canada with whom we've been very close with in recent times. Their other members - Iran and Peru - too are friendly nations with whom we are for example MPP-allied with. I will present this case to Congress as soon as possible but without doubt I believe that they too will see the great possible opportunity. We indeed hope for the best and some good news in the coming days or weeks.

Domestic
Not much to say about this field. We've seen an abundance of articles by the Ministry of Home Affairs and I'm happy to see that. It may or may not been the reason we've recently gone from 220 to 250 citizens. For the first time in months we're - not - starving. I still have some ambitious plans which I want to proceed with, but I've faced some stiff resistance in some of them - or just a general lack of interest. I guess it's just the nature of the Dutch ''polder'' (consensus) habits. Without fully elaborating on such petty conflicts, I intend the last days of this governmental term to be dedicated to pushing through these reforms (or rather, stabilisation) - mainly based around finances and our defence apparatus (i.e. DAF).

Kind regards,

NoTie112,
Country President
