ザ・ムーディー・ニュースへようこそ

Hello and welcome to the first issue of "Za Muudii Nyuusu" (The Moody News). This will mainly be where I talk about how I think things are going in eRepublic as well as combining it with random images from my old town of Osaka and surrounding area and probably a few Japanese phrases.
If you're wondering why it's called The Moody News and thinking it sounds quite morbid and depressing, don't despair. Speakers of Japanese will be able to tell you that the connotations of the word 'moody' differ somewhat to English. The extract at the end of this from Akira Miura's 'English in Japanese' will straighten it up for you.
So with presidential elections around the corner, I can't help but wait and wonder in anticipation to see not only who will be our president, but who will be nominated from each of the respective parties. And on that note I leave you, as I too have some work to do.
😁

Today's picture was from the mens' room in the Umeda Sky Building in Osaka. That's a fantastic view while you take a leak.
Extract from English in Japanese by Akira Miura (p104 - 105)
"Muudii comes from English moody but has an entirely different meaning. Apparently the individual who first started using the word did not know the meaning of the original English word.
In English, the word mood is neutral in meaning. It may have a positive or negative meaning, depending on the modifier, as in "He's in a bad mood" or "He's in a good mood." In Japanese, on the other hand, muudo (from mood) generally has a nice connotation, as in Asoko wa muudo no aru kissaten da, which is literally "That's a coffee shop with a mood" but actually means "That's a coffee shop with a pleasant atmosphere." "
(future issues probably won't be this educational ¬_¬)

Haha awesome, subbed 😃
The Sky Building is quite awesome eh? Not quite as good as the view from the mens room at thetop of the WTC tower though (near Cosmo Station in Osaka) 😃
最初の記事おめでとう!
Subbed, and looking forward to future articles...and pics
お疲れ!
Nice, I subbed.
I'm need more large pictures at article. This so small.
へー The photograph is no doubt a contemporary attempt at the famous thirty-six views of Mount Fuji.
Brilliant, I say!
Although it is hard to tell from the small picture, that appears to be the Yodogawa next to the vertical bar in the middle of the window, so it must be a west-facing window. Very nice sunset. Seoul Tower also has some nice "toilets-with-a-view."
でもさ、本当の大阪人だったら、野外で立小便しながら夕焼けを見よう。笑
As someone who considers themselves somewhat of a world traveler, I have always been taken aback, nay, downright embarrassed by the gap between Japanese and American (especially public) toilet technology.
Thanks for the comments folks.
@Aruchan - I'll have to check that out when I'm back in Osaka.
@Pash1987 - ありがとう
@Kaze no Umi - Thanks for subbing.
@Nata-Kun - This was my first entry so I wasn't sure how to put pictures in other than the box at the bottom. I'll try to look into it for next time.
@Tanaka Fujimori - Actually the main reason I took it was to show my female friend who was waiting outside.
@KITA Ikki - That's the Yodogawa alright. 野外で立小便したことがないよ。笑
@Gonzo Garcia - Having never used an American loo I couldn't really compare, though when it comes to toilet I must say I prefer the Washlet to bogs in the UK. 😁
