Traitor ? Moi ? Nej.

Day 622, 08:43 Published in United Kingdom New Zealand by Mr Knee
Should the eUK be part of PEACE or should it have stayed loyal to the eUS ? Frankly as a newer player, I have absolutely no idea. Since I started playing, I have read various well written articles as to why PEACE is a good thing, and I have read various well written articles as to why we had a moral duty to remain with the eUS. I have also read a lot of tripe articles supporting goodness know what as it was not clear.

At the end of the day, we citizens ultimately have to trust that the decisions that our elected leaders make is ultimately in our best interest, and right now, I have to trust that being part of the PEACE agreement is in our long term best interest. The biggest problem is that what has been deemed in our best interest is not in the best interest of the eUS and so the accusation of traitor is thrown at the citizens of the eUK. Slightly unfair I feel.

Once the eUK declared itself neutral, the eUS citizens basically had two choices to respond. I believe that deep down, most eUK citizens tend to favour the US (at least in real life) and that a number of well written articles as to why the eUK should be supporting the eUS might well have caused people to have broken rank from the official eUK policy and moved to fight for the US/Canada (I myself might have done so). Certainly if the eUK citizens could be convinced of the benefits of staying with the US then maybe something could have happened politically. Would this have worked ? Who knows – it depends o how cynical you are. The second option was to basically write a lot of articles and respond to other people’s articles with the accusation of traitor. I’ve read various comments from eUS citizens on the lines of “The eUK can go to Hell. Once we’ve beaten Hungary well go over to the UK and teach them a lession”. I’m guessing that even the moderate thinking eUK citizens will be losing sympathy with the eUS and will cause those like me who are undecided or uneducated to start to lean towards PEACE – whether or not we Brits like PEACE is less important since right now, they are the only ones not threatening hostilities and our interests lie with remaining in bed with PEACE. (Am I the only one picturing John Lennon and Yoko in bed with a “Give Peace a chance” banner ?)

Give it a few months and history will tell us if our current leaders made the right decisions. I’m sure the average eUS citizen supported its leaders when it first invaded and got involved in attacking other nations as in its best interest. At a time when it seems no individual nation can withstand the muscle of PEACE, it strikes me foolish that the eUS aren’t doing their best to encourage people to join their struggle and its citizens are doing its best to alienate itself further.

I hope PEACE stops short of completely wiping the eUS off the map completely. I’d suspect that under normal circumstances, PEACE would stop fighting with the eUS keeping some of their territories and if the eUS played nice and respected its neighbours, they get back a few territories back over a period of time. I don’t think the eUS can win a war against PEACE, but I’d like to think they’d do what they can not to lose it either. To not lose, the eUS will need to make friends with members in PEACE so that the will of individual countries loosen – shame some eUS citizens want to cut off the eUK in spite of their own faces.
