THE TRUTH ABOUT THE UKPP PTO

Day 2,003, 10:29 Published in United Kingdom New Zealand by Mr Knee

mwcerberus has in the past week or so been having fun at NE's expense with his "mwceberus for CP!" bid and the general response has been either:

1 "Eeeeeeek, stop the PTO! It will destroy the eUK if NE falls", or
2 "I know who I'll be voting for - mwceberus!"

Line one is the response of NE's members, while line two is the general response of people who aren't in the party, probably didn't intend to switch parties to vote but has gained a certain amount of amusement from the reaction of the likes of BA at the apparent threat. I've never participated in a PTO myself, but I suspect the best tactic is not to post an article announcing that you are standing for election with the intention of PTOing the party. Or maybe it is such a double, double, double, double bluff that it might fool people into voting for him anyway. Although with hindsight, the fact the likes of BA was stupid enough to think mwcerberus was being serious maybe suggests that a double double bluff might have worked if he was serious about running.

But the general feeling is that mwcerberus is some sort of dirty PTO'er who destroyed the UKPP. I've commented in various thread before, but here is why mwcerberus did not take over the UKPP in some sort of stunning PTO...

The results that month was:

32 votes - mwcerberus
19 votes - Richard Fiest
9 votes - Helpmeslack
7 votes - Neil Lewis and Saiwan
5 votes - Baroness Margaret Thatcher

plus 17 votes split between 8 players....

It is worth noting that the total number of votes cast that month was in the lower part of the range of total votes that the UKPP typically got in the PP elections. If anyone was brought in from outside the party to boost mwcerberus's votes, then literally only a handful of people had joined - certainly the numbers could not have been anywhere near the difference of the winning margin.

The Dental Corp - the MU who was apparently mwcerberus's backers - consisted of 18 active players at the time. Of those 18, Richard almost certainly voted for himself and I didn't vote for mwcerberus. Hence, of the 32 votes mwcerberus got, at least 16 people were UKPP members who weren't in the unit. Although the DC MU when it was created was initially made up of ex-RN and current UKPP personel, the political mix of the unit now is a lot more varied and those members not in the UKPP would have voted in their own party's elections. Last month, mwcerberus only got 11 votes, and I suspect that no one outside the DC MU would have voted for him. Using 11 as a baseline, then 21 non-DC people voted for mwcerberus. And of course, 21 beats 19 votes that Richard got. It is impossible to confirm exactly how many non-DC people voted for mwcerberus, but at least half of his votes came from people not involved in any alledged PTO plans. People suggest outsiders got involved, but from the numbers then no one needed to come in.

So the two most simple facts is that there weren't enough UKPP members in the unit to get mwcerberus elected and the total number of votes compared with previous months highlights that there was very little inbound joining of the party just to vote.

So how did mwcerberus manage to get himself elected then?? As stated by myself and a few others in previous threads, he got in due to a lack of activity in the party. Of all the candidates who put themself forward, only mwcerberus messaged me prior to the vote asking for votes. There were a few "vote for me" messages in the party feed from various people on the day but certainly only mwcerberus did any active campaigning. I suspect for many UKPPers, that caused them to click on his "vote" button. Typically in the party, there would be a single stand out candidate who'd get 2/3rds of the vote, or a couple of people in a close battle - usually between someone from the DC MU and someone Sir Nick put forward as an anti-PTO candidate and whose votes were often boosted by Sir Nick's friends Master Visa and Mr Mastercard. (for those not in the party, every month where someone not in the RN nor a close friend of Sir NIck stood, Sir Nick would claim it as a PTO in order to rally everyone around into voting for someone he approved of. In Nick's mind, there has been a PTO every other month for the last 12 months.). In March though, the winner only got about 33% of the vote which is a pathetic winning value. mwcerberus got voted in as no one saw the "danger" in voting for him. I know Sir Nick did an article claiming him as a PTOer but Sir Nick cried wolf practically every month.

Richard Feist - a secret sleeper agent??

It has been suggested that as a member of the Dental Corp, Richard Feist ran that month in order to split the vote and failing that and winning, the Dental Corp would still have a member as leader of the party. Evidence of this is thanks to Wayne - upon being asked if Richard was planted to split the vote - replied something on the lines of "sure, why not?". The in joke at the moment is that we admit to anything... Put babies' heads on spikes? Certainly... Shot JFK? Yeah, and we shot JR too... Caused the world recession? Absolutely. Regularly bend over for BA to get his sexual gratification? Ok, so there are places we would never go to....

If you look at the results, even if Richard hadn't stood and all 19 people had voted for the same alternative person, then mwcerberus would still have won. Had there been communication between the likes of Neil Lewis, Saiwan, Baronness Margaret Thatcher etc and agreed to only one standing this time around, then collectively their supporters could have won the election. Had anyone else bothered to campaign as an alternative then the 2/3rds who didn't vote for mwcerberus could have prevented him winning - but the alternaive weren't active nor communication and so the party sleepwalked into him winning.

So what has the party learned since?

Nothing. The party is still gripped with the same apathy that enabled mwcerberus to win the party election. Even, if as expected at time of writing that Richard wins, I predict the UKPP will be in the wilderness for a while. The party needs to lose the stigma from Big Ant's reign, and from the publicity from the PTO. At the moment, the party has a bit of an identity crisis....

SUMMARY: It wasn't a PTO - it was down to the fact the majority couldn't be bothered to vote for the same alternative.
