The Death of a Hero.

A close and dear eFriend of mine has passed away recently. Lets have a moment of silence for my buddy and former Govt official Bassett.

I stayed by his side and watched his situation slowly deteriorate. From day one of his inactivity I have been there watching and hoping. Many of his close friends came and left leaving gifts and the such to keep him strong in his coma. Always me though waiting.

Bassett was a unbreakable fighter but in the end he succumbed to his illness. I stood there with the doctor and the decision was finally made to pull the plug on my dear friend. Many thoughts passed through my head as I watched the doctors shut off all the life support systems.

Just like in his eLife he was strong and continued to fight through sheer will as I would have expected nothing less from him. His heartbeat was strong and he clung to eLife. I politely asked if the doctor could leave so I could spend his final moments with him in privacy as I had been with him since the beginning. The Doctor agreed.

It was one of the hardest things I have ever done. Placing that pillow over his face and feeling him slowly cease to draw in breath. But it had to be done. His suffering had gone on long enough. After 2 months of no movement under my ceaseless vigilance. I had to be the one to put him out of his misery. After the deed was done I gently placed the pillow back beneath his head and with the moniters flatlining. The doctors returned.

As the only one left that was close to him they asked me what I wanted to do with the remains.
I replied "I don't give a *^%$ I just wanted to make sure that piece of $%^* finally died".
