My First Guerrilla Competition

Day 3,314, 14:05 Published in Romania Romania by Adinushk

I know I've said this more than once, but let me say it again. Clopo is a bundle of joy. Just look at him -

Isn't your day instantly better? 😁 (If you, by any chance, have the picture above at a better size and quality, please send it my way. I need it for... reasons.)

I'm new to the Clopo Crew - only last Friday have I've watched my first live stream (his interview with Master_rg) and on Monday I've quit my TV series mid-episode to join the Pyramid. It wasn't all for nothing, though...

Ok, maaaaaaai departeeeeee....!!!

So when Clopo's 10th Guerrilla Competition was announced, I knew I wanted to join it. I am might be a girl, but I definitely like a good fight. But um... there was a tiny little bit of a problem. I had never played Guerrilla before.

No problem. I went to the Battlefield, pew-pew-pew I destroyed 5 enemies in a blink of an eye (as I do), I found an opponent (so there are people playing Guerrilla outside the competitions too, but by the time the game took to match me with someone, I am lead to believe they are an endangered species) and then I was like...

Very people will get the refferenece, if any... 😃

I press all the buttons, up, left, change weapon, I have no weapon, nevermind, down, right, dodge, I can't dodge, I see blood, it's not good, I get flashbacks of an old game that I never played anyway, right, left, the match will end in 3 rounds, down, I die (I assume), I lose.

I am a overly-enthusiastic noob player but also a bit of a sore loser so yeah, 1 game should be enough training, right? Riiiiight. However, I have been kind enough to enter the solo competition, as to not bring others down. I also went shopping for Guerrilla premium stuff. I don't know how much Gold I have spent on those and I don't want to find out. Way too much, that's for sure.

Coming home in a hurry, I scheduled my entire evening around the event and minutes before 12:00 eRpk time, I came online. Clopo was already on Beam, encouraging everyone and spreading love, as he does. My excitement level was going overboard. Then, the competition started.

I fight, I fight my first opponent, I frenetically, randomly push all the buttons available and I lose my first match by 1 point. No biggie. Let's go again. Then... surprise! I get matched with this beautiful lady:

History has a way of repeating itself, so I lose again. But hey, MC wins so that is enough for me at this point. Plus, I've still got time. And surely, I'll win the next battle.

I lose the next battle. I don't lose hope, however, and I fight again. And guess what? I win for once.

OF COURSE I HAVE EVIDENCE!!! Um... but idk if it's a screen where it says "You win!" or something. I haven't seen it too many times to know for sure. But there's a green "1" there, and it's for me!😁

Aaaand then I lose again. Eh, life Guerrilla goes on. BUT THEN WHO DO I SEE ON THE BATTLEFIELD? It's my friend Yui!

I have a surprise for you and it's gonna be huuuuuge. This noob defeats me. Duck. Eh, at least that made his day. Or at least I think it did.

Having had enough of this losing drama, I see I have played 7 games (1-6), so I head out to https://www.erepublik-deutschland.de/en , the official partner of the event (or sth along those lines) to see just how bad I was. But my name is still crossed out with a black line. Of course, I had forgotten that my battle counter started from 1.

Fed up with all the losing, I reluctantly head towards the war zone once again. Oh, look! A Romanian epic! 😁 Oh, how I love the shadows of those planes flying across the battlefield. Pretteh! I got distracted. I make a mental note to return and help my Country out (and help myself with some Prestige Points - double win!). 1 Opponent is found. Who is it?

I can't believe my eyes. Zdlemmy! I recognize him from Clopo's Interview and some other Media activity, so my excitement is back. By now, I can tell that his weapon works best at around 700 m, while mine at 550 so I chase him on the battlefield for three or four rounds. Long story short and no unexpected plot twists later, I lose to Zdlemmy. Nice workout though.

Happy to have played against three players I more or less knew and to have washed my shame with one win, I return to defend my Homeland in my fancy D2 Jeep (is it still a home-land if you're fighting in/for a region that doesn't originally belong to you? Discuss...).

The Guerrilla competition ends, Clopo is still handing out prizes, but I am exhausted so I tip-toe and leave. Today I found out I finished on the 88th position. Not bad.

And this has been my first Guerrilla experience - in way too many words and images. Thanks Clopo for hosting such awesome events! Thanks Clopo Crew for spreading so much love and coming together as one! Thank you, my opponents for being there (literally 😁) and congratulations! And thank you, Plato, for the Gift Packs! Han Solo wants them all.

Until next time (who knows when that will be), I wish you a wonderful day ahead and all the best in your future endeavors!

Kindest regards,
Adinushk
