Keeping it Real - The Ethical Quandaries of Gnilraps.

Day 4,820, 19:27 Published in USA USA by chickensguys

I did not enjoy writing this article. Indeed I had great difficulty doing so and not because this piece was challenging to write or difficult but because this topic will have a whole slew of passionate people on both sides. In recent years, it has been my goal to get along amicably with the members of our community. We are not the large sprawling community of 5,000 voices we once were. We are a small and perhaps even shrinking community and preventing this place from becoming toxic should be our primary goal. That doesn’t mean we cannot have fun or have rivalries. But ethics and honesty must remain at the forefront.

So, I will ask one thing of my readers, please check the partisan rancor at the door and look at these facts as good and decent people. Set aside your biases.

Honesty and good faith.
At the end of the day all we can do is keep it real. We do this by being honest with ourselves and with others. We do this by conducting ourselves with integrity. Keeping it real is something Gnilraps has struggled with since his return to the game. Let’s take this very simple interaction.

Beef with Dom.
While I appreciate the fact Gnilraps, in his last few articles, stopped talking to himself using his own accounts to generate interest. He is still using his war bots to upvote his content but more on that later. Focusing on the content of what Trite said is paramount. I believe he is entirely correct, Gnilraps hates Dominar a lot for outing him as Krapis and for Dominar’s constant war on bots. This has gained Dominar the ire and hate of Gnilraps and his ardent defenders. Everytime someone supports attacking Dominar on this issue, they are essentially covering for one big lie. It’s just designed to discredit Dominar and hide the truth. Returning to the above image, look at how Gnilraps responds to Trite, “ohai george”, it’s demeaning and rude, addresses none of his points and it’s designed to discount everything he said.

Upvoting his own content with bots.
In the same article we have this gem. Gnilraps using three of his accounts to upvote his post. This is one of the least egregious examples. Nonetheless it is so deceptive, and so dishonest. Going back through his articles you can find his bots endorsing his articles and even having full on conversations with each other. This above image is from his article 30 days ago, when Gnilraps announced his return.

Here he is commenting as Krampis post-name change on an article he wrote as Gnilraps. What sort of person would ever do this. It’s misleading, dishonest and unnecessary. It destroys what little trust can exist between players.

Endorsing his own articles with bots.
Here he is endorsing his own articles alongside Plato. Buying packs does indeed grant immunity,

Talking to himself.
During the Krapis Presidency, here he was talking to himself. I wish it ended it here, I truly do.

506.
Efforts to turn the 506 into a t5 party have been underway since the middle of 2020. I discussed with Gnilraps during the first or second week of my Presidency about the importance of building trust in the community and leaving the BSP alone. After claiming his innocence I sent him various logs and account ids. He finally accepted involvement and agreed to remove the bots. To his credit, he in fact did do just that. But less than 30 days later, the same T6 party underwent another change. This time the bots were not present but the goals were the same. Whether the goal is designed to boot the BSP from the t5 as it was initially planned or just designed to punish DMJ and company for opposing large scale bot usage, I remain unsure. If Gnilraps’s goal was not to boot anyone he would have just run as PP in the USWP and won. But he joined Deepchill and leveraged his connections in Easy Company, and is attempting to boot a t5 party. Either way his goal is to boot one of the parties that opposed him and his usage of bots.

Stealing from Clopo.
Clopoyaur, can probably go without an introduction. He is a known streamer who has given away millions of CC to the community. After Gnilraps returned he made fake twitch accounts for his bot accounts, entered Clopoyaur’s pyramid giveaway and won the main 2 million dollar prize. Fraudulently increasing his odds and winning the main prize with a bot.

Doxing of Maryam and Norm.
For this one the title says it all. I will not be sharing the photo or what was said. I will simply say that it was at this moment that everyone in the room knew something was terribly wrong. It goes without saying that you don’t share real life photos of other players. And you certainly don’t do it at their expense and give commentary on their real life situation. Everyone left this conversation in utter disbelief.

The Gnilraps Appeal - With great power comes great responsibility.
This axiom is rather poignant. If you play this game and plan to disregard the TOS at least have the self awareness to know you are not the only person playing. Let other people enjoy the game and be fair and decent.

I have spoken privately with many individuals about my moral and ethical concerns regards Gnilraps and received several responses. Some of his proponents say he means well or his intentions are good. So his behavior deserves a pass. Others see Gnilraps as a long term tank defending eUSA interests. So his behavior deserves a pass. Other players have bots and no one complains about them. So his behavior deserves a pass. Some are just happy to get the occasional pack from him. So his behavior deserves a pass. Others say he just doesn’t deserve to be attacked at all, somehow implying he resides above criticism and is beyond reproach. So his behavior deserves a pass.

Doing the right thing is not often easy. My only regret was not writing this article sooner. That will always be on me. Nonetheless, his behavior does not deserve a pass.
