[MoED] Remember us?

Day 3,381, 04:39 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Department for Education

Hi there. Remember us? This is the mythical, legendary, deeply inactive Department for Education. However, as “DfE” doesn’t fit nicely into our government naming scheme, we lovingly refer to it as MoED

Having been metaphorically fingered by Apples in his manifesto, in the best traditions of MoED I chose to do precisely nothing. However, over a week has passed and I’m feeling guilty, so - against anyone’s better judgement - here’s the first MoED article in bloody ages.

Now I just need to work out what it’s going to be about.

The purpose of MoED is for old people, who learnt how to do things a long time ago (when things were largely different), to educate new people who don’t actually exist and who - by the time they’ve stumbled across MoED - have probably worked it all out for themselves anyway. After all, it’s not rocket science (except for the Rocket Factory thing, and nobody knows what that’s all about).

However, occasionally new things come along in the game that nobody knows anything about, making them ideal fodder for tutorials etc.

One such things conveniently crossed our paths several months ago, which brings us nicely into...

Lesson 1 - if you’re in Division 1, concentrate on fighting in air battles

Fortunately, there’s a handy Royal Navy article that can be recycled at this point, to provide you with an introduction to what air battles are all about and why you should be fighting in them.

Despite what I said earlier, I imagine that there are some basic lessons, tutorials and information out there that may be of use to younger players.

Luckily, my colleague Ska2D2 has already taken it upon himself to gather those articles together in his own eUK British eLibrary.

It’s really very good; you should check it out.

The information linked to above is - quite frankly - more than enough to fulfil the month-long contractual obligations of any Minister of Education.

But - and I’m yet to work out why I’ve decided to do this - we can do more. Because while simply rehashing other people’s guides is a useful start, it occurs to me that it’s been a very long time since we actually asked new, young and inexperienced players what information they need.

So, this is where MoED goes all interactive.

I’m putting the call out now, to anyone who’s interested, to not only tell us what you need to know, but to go one further and answer your own question in the form of a MoED article.

That’s right, I want YOU - the youth of today - to pick a topic that you think needs explaining, find out about it, and then write an article that will go in this MoED newspaper.

You will, of course, be rewarded for your efforts. I’ll start by offering 1500 CC for any article that gets used. I’ll also try and blag extra funds from older, richer players to increase that reward even more (donations welcome chaps).

Your article will be tarted up (if necessary) and published in the MoED newspaper. You will be credited as its author, and get to bask in the warm glow of helpful notoriety for the rest of your days as a result.

It’ll need to be a decent length, accurate (obvs) and helpful. I can help you with that part or, at least, point you in the direction of someone who can be more helpful than me.

So, have a think about areas of the game that you’re a bit murky on, do some research and then write us an article! If you prefer, you can come up with an idea and get in touch with me, and I should be able to point your towards some good starting places or people. And if you really can’t be arsed to do this but still have something you want to know about, dump your idea in the comments below and perhaps someone who does want the cash and glory will pick it up.

Oh, and whatever you do don’t just trawl through the USA media checking out and stealing their excellent library of tutorials and articles. I will be checking*

Looking forward to it

Minister of Edu-ma-cation

* I absolutely won’t be checking.
