【jw】 Running for CP yet again

Oh hi. I've decided to run for President once again, based on the fact I've been doing it for the past couple of weeks anyway. As well as that, a decent chunk of things that've come up during my stewardship have reignited a fire: to actually give a donkeys. Ultimately, the way I play the game hasn't changed in years: play to the rules, and take advantage of whatever possible, whenever possible. Mechanics limit what we can do: but taking advantage of these mechanics, and encouraging subtle changes in people's behaviour isn't just the most we can hope to achieve; it's also the most effective government.

Ultimately, running a middle line amongst insane and tedious has been my modus operandi: so whilst I'm a massive fan of reminding everyone whats actually possible, and what's just daydreaming, ultimately this is a game: if there is no entertainment; there is no point in playing. Thus, for a general outline it's pretty simple:

- Government needs some money to try and at least pretend that we have some semblance of activity and help our allies: we can't rely solely on richer players to carry the can for us. Government can do some of this, and reward and encourage others to help out too.
- There's no value in closing the US TW unless/until things change: as long as their Gov is happy to continue returning our taxes and sticking to agreed regions: we can leave it open and harvest TP/RH medals.
- We need to continue to cosy up to strong nations. It's not fun, but it's necessary.
- We tried an investment competition with parties: I don't know if anything ever happened. What I would propose instead, is offering direct funding to add additional welcome baskets: The NHS offers basic help; I'll fund parties to offer additional help on the governments behalf.

Of course, the finer details of what I hope to do, how I plan to do it, and who I'll be asking to help me do it will be released in the coming days. For now, I'd like to thank PUP and WRP for their nominations so far. On February 5th, vote jamesw!
