【jw】 Domestics: The holy grail we've never managed

Day 3,725, 05:45 Published in United Kingdom France by Hell The Great

Domestics has been an issue for the UK for years. During my previous terms, we struggled, and to be honest, so have most domestics policies since that king guy did stuff, and that must have been 10 years ago. Even then, things were relatively goo😛 domestics has never been a strength for the UK: because we've always focused on game mechanics, the military module, with any leftover manpower hurled towards foreign affairs. As such, the time, and money, invested into domestics has always matched the inherent rejection of it's importance.

But now, more than ever, countries are winning through retention, not recruitment. Over the past 3 months, we have averaged 2 new eUK citizens a day. It's never been this low before, and it's only going to get lower. Growth, these days, is relative; not absolute. We don't win by growing babies: we win by outliving our enemies. The strongest countries, likeSerbia, Poland, Hungary and Romania are thriving on the battlefield, not because they have fresh soldiers signing up every month, but because they have competitive and cohesive units outside of Government, who supply troops and motivate them to come back. Some soldiers in British MUs are lucky if they have a weekly supply, in some cases, at all: this is something that Government can't change directly. But, I can encourage improvement, push for more co-operation between government and these MUs, and try to grow an example that others can emulate going forward.

The same is true of parties. Government cannot be expected to pickup all the work: especially with record low levels of engagement and volunteers to man the battlestations. Thus, to encourage groups (be they parties, or Military Units), my government will provide the only support it can: financial. To encourage groups to pick up where they should have done many moons ago, my government will fund welcome packages for new members, and prizes for existing members.

Parties and Military Units can choose to accept or refuse such funding, but will be based on the following figures;

- 250 GBP per new member (paid per member)
- 50 GBP per member (paid weekly)

For Military Units, there will be additional funding based on damage and kills, calculated on a weekly basis. Instead of rewarding statistics, we will reward activity, persistence and focus. I will outline this plan in more detail in my next article. For now, the key thing to note: Government cannot do everything: but we will do our best to help and reward those who are willing to pick up some of the slack.

Finally, I'd like to thank everyone who has helped me this month as we finalize our Plato foundation proposal, which will be ready for submission next month. The work that's gone into this proposal is staggering, but it is far from over yet: should this be accepted; we'll have a long, and heady task in pulling everything together, and getting the most out of this opportunity. Things will take time to organize, and an active and engaged team will be needed to ensure things run smoothly.

Not only will this offer us a place on the international stage, but it will also hopefully serve as a catalyst to spice things up and encourage a new norm in our domestic affairs. It sucks that I constantly end up repeating myself, but things will be within the range that we find acceptable. The moment we accept less, the moment less becomes the norm. Such a consistent, and constant cycle of reduction has lead us to where we are now. Over the coming month I'll do my best to reach new heights: but for that I really do need more bodies to help out, either actively or passively.

To actives: get involved. Even a couple of minutes a day would be a big help. You don't even need to be in government. Comment, discuss, support or even oppose - writing all of these articles for 3-4 articles is the reason less and less people write articles: support activity with your voice, not just your vote and your CC.

To congress: you aren't just there to collect your 5 gold. I cannot speak for other parties, but discussion takes place: action makes things worthwhile - constant discussion leads to nothing. Do things. Want to do things. Offer ideas and suggestions.

To everyone: vote jamesw kthx 😘
