[FDP] The Foundations of a New Party

Day 665, 17:39 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Arthur Wellesley

Friends! Britons! Countrymen! Lend me your ears!

Tomorrow is an auspicious day. Tomorrow marks the foundation of a new party within the eUnited Kingdom. It has, for a long time now, been a wish of mine to branch out and found a new party with fresh ideas and approaches, to found a new political identity that has a chance of truly becoming a linkage institution. Tomorrow, we found the Free Democratic Party.

Now, wait, Arthur (I hear your cries), you know a new party doesn’t have any chance of success! Well, maybe so. I, on the other hand, believe that this new party will be better equipped than any previous party to bring together the finest minds in the eUK, to bridge gaps that were previously non-traversable chasms, and to just flat give all of us more to do. In that direction, I announce to you our first party membership list!

And there are a few more that are bound by commitments that will be joining us at a later date, and they wish their identities to be kept quiet for the time being. An auspicious body, a group of experienced players that come from varied backgrounds.

What will we stand for? As for specific policy goals, you can expect the Party Manifesto and the Party Constitution to be made publicly available soon. As for the underlying ideology, I really became committed to this idea while reading about the FDP in Germany, a party I have always had respect for. They have a saying that, when translated, means that the state should be “as big as necessary, and as small as possible”. I thought this to be a very brilliant and succinct statement of political intent. The FDP will stand for government to fill the roles it needs to, but no more. A state that encourages private enterprise, hard work, and freedom. A government under the FDP will never get in your way; it will always be behind you, spurring you on to new heights and new successes. Efficient government, energetic government, effective government. That is the Free Democratic Party, and we encourage you to join our ranks!

I am, etc.
