[DoD] 5540 Relaunch: Hey, Noobs! Yeah, you!

Day 5,540, 18:27 Published in USA USA by USA Department of Defense

Location: The Pentagon
Minister of Defense: shefutzu

Modern warfare is so fluid that transmission of critical information is handled Live on Discord and Telegram, so the DoD newspaper will best serve the community by providing links, instruction and guidance to new players. We’ll also develop other features and segments to make stopping by the DoD paper a worthwhile click for everyone.

I am George Armstrong Custer, White House Staff Writer, on temporary assignment to the Department of Defense. We are actively seeking an advanced player to serve as an intern. Government media experience is a plus. Hell of an opportunity.

Are You Lookin’ For A Fight?

There are several modules to eRepublik. You can learn about and become proficient in a number of aspects of the game. Here at the Department of Defense we’re concerned with your knowing when and where to fight. We’ll also direct you to free food so you can fight extra.

Here’s the order of priority for fighting:

1: Your Daily Order at your Military Unit
The game’s daily minimum clicks require putting in a fight for your Military Unit, so you need to be in one of those. There used to be a Civilian MU that new players were directed to, so they’d get a Daily Order and be able to fulfill that daily required click. It was an Official catch-all MU, to grab new players before they wander off and feel lost, and they’d find other MUs more suited to their taste and move on. That infrastructure is no longer in place, but the MU is still there and it’s still as good a place as any to start. You can quit an MU and join a different one any time.

Join an MU to get a Daily Order. You’ll also connect with people who will help guide you.
Join a political Party, too. They all have chat rooms on Discord and you’ll connect with people who will help you out. You can also quit a Party and join another any time. Go find your tribe.

2: The President’s Battle
On your eRep front page you’ll see the Shout Feed on the right side.
Above that is (almost always) a battle link that the President sets. Whether it’s a Real War or a Training War, the President is looking for some extra hits there. Can’t go wrong fighting for the President.

3 : Training Wars
Fighting in Training Wars is a way to personally grow and advance in military strength, fighting in diplomatically arranged battles that don’t antagonize an enemy. And the Department of Defense wants you to be big and strong, so if after doing your Daily Order you want to fight some more (there are medals and prizes involved. again, your new MU and Party friends will guide you), you can choose from 30 or so different Training Wars to fight in.

It’s vitally important that you fight on the correct side of every battle, and it’s not always “fight for USA.”

Minister of Defense shefutzu manages a list of Training Wars, keeping it updated, and posting to three places:
the USA tab of your Shout Feed, where all government officials post important messages;
on Discord >> the eUSA channel >> the #battle-orders chat;
and on Telegram, similarly on a US channel with a battle orders chat.
This list tells you straight out, these are the battles where the US must Win and these are the battles where the US must Lose. There’s treaties and rental agreements that make winning and losing correctly a contractual thing.

Let us review.
First, fight at your Military Unit. Work and Train, do the Daily.
If later on, after your Health has recovered, you want to fight again, fight for the President.
If you’re still wanting to fight and have the Food and all that worked out, go find the MoD’s TW List. Pay attention and fight on the correct side.

DO NOT. Do not slam that Wars tab at the top of the page and just go in there battle shopping, liberating the world for America and apple pie.

There are treaties and contracts, and specific expectations to Win and Lose exactly as prescribed, that’s what the MoD’s TW list is there for. Your new friends at your MU and Party will help you learn about Battle Hero medals and prizes. Learn to Fight Right.

Or.. like many players.. Just get in your clicks, and for extra fights look no further than your MU. Your Commander knows where you’re needed, and your clicks are always good there.

Here’s Telegram and Discord.
Once you have them, your new friends in your MU and Party will get you links and invites as needed.

It’s weird, I know, but we’ve always played at least half the game off-game. Before it was the eUS Forums and IRC, now it’s Discord and Telegram. The game just doesn’t have what it takes to.. be.. playable.. on its own. Never has.
I can’t believe I just said that in a player retention article, but there you have it.

We just don't want you to, after clicking on about all there is to click on, be left wondering "where the hell is Congress and how does that even work," or "so I joined an MU in the game, where's all the people and the chatting?" Well, all that is in what they call "the meta game," which has been developed by players independent of whatever they do at eRepublik Labs.. Once you're hooked up you'll see why eRepublik doesn't want all this on their servers, and why we'd just as soon not count on them for any of this critical infrastructure anyways.
The game by itself is.. flawed. You must assimilate to the meta game.

Welcome to eRepublik and the eUSA, Citizen Soldier. You can always count on your Department of Defense to be right there beside you, ready to see that you get fed so we can squeeze one more fight out of you. Ready to help you fight against Serbs one day and for them the next.
We’re the Department of Defense– you must assimilate.
