Should Countries Be Removed From The Game?

Day 3,744, 09:14 Published in Australia Croatia by Nikola barun Jurisic

Over the years eRepublik has added new countries into the game, most recently being Armenia, Georgia, Nigeria and Cuba who were added 4 years ago this May coming. Since their addition to the game there has been calls for more countries to added to diversify the playing field and make the game different. I’ve personally seen calls for the addition of Iceland, Jamaica and even Kosovo. Whilst the calls for new additions has seemed to died down and there’s more people raising concern over the balance of regions, I find myself asking whether Plato should in fact remove countries from the game.

Throughout the years the game has suffered major declines in player numbers and with that entire communities have ceased to exist. In Version 1, Ireland would constantly send players over to Bolivia to take part in counter-PTO measures, a practice called ATO (Anti-Take-Over), a term that is no longer relevant in the eWorld at this stage. With the introduction of the Dictatorship module we saw MTO (Military-Take Over) come into fashion. Regardless of international allegiances, citizens fought actively to protect nations democracies from the super-wealthy who looked to turn individual nations into their own geopolitical tools. It was during these times that a nation held some sort of value, independence and free-thought. However, times have changed.

The first country that I believe should be removed from this game is Malaysia.

Malaysia has been PTO’d, MTO’d and has no place in this game as far as I am concerned. From what I can gather, they have been under Dictatorship for months on end. They as a nation haven’t signed an MPP in over a year and the only administration proposals made by their ”Government” is 9 Natural Enemies, all to Poland.

Their economy is also ineffective, with them earning on average weekly:

Work: 41cc/week which translates to two workers working a day.
Work As Manager: 7cc/week
VAT: 12cc/week (Sales of 1200cc).

Not a single sale was made in the Malaysian market on 6 out of 7 of the past days prior to the publishing of this article. It is also worth noting Malaysia suffers a loss of 70/cc a week to Poland which equates to half of their tax revenue.

The following image also sums up why Malaysia should no longer be regarded as a country in this game and in my opinion should be removed.

The next country I believe should be removed from the game is North Korea whose addition amazes me as real-life North Korean would not have access to the game giving the country an automatic severe disadvantage in terms of population.

Similar to Malaysia, North Korea has failed to sign a single MPP over the past year and the only administrative action seen by the country is the proposal of 10 Natural Enemies and one single donation. 9 out of 10 of the Natural Enemies proposed have been on China, the exception being on Russia. North Korea is under constant occupation by China.

The North Korean economy is relatively strong considering its failure as a nation as well as the fact that in their last election they only recorded 8 voters (13 active fighters this week).
China has received more than 15,000cc (over 3 times the revenue of North Korea) in tax revenue from North Korea this week while North Korea has taken in the following:

Work: 2046cc
WaM: 1670c
VAT: 32cc

Assuming their revenue to China has been evenly distributed in the following ways, its fair to assume that North Korea generates roughly 8,184cc a week through Work Tax (2046x4). Further reading into these numbers and calculating backwards from the 5% Work Tax, the amount of wages paid in North Korea equate to 163,680cc a week, 23,382.85 a day or using the current high wage of 355cc we can estimate North Korea to have an active workforce of at least 65 people! A rather high number of workers in a country that only has one production bonus – iron.

While this extra work revenue could be down to overtime work etc, it does strike me as alarming considering the resource bonus and actual population.

Other countries to note who I believe could be shortlisted for removal from the game:

Fighters this week: 13
3 fighters who hit over 100m damage.
