The purpose of this article is to explain where political parties get there money and what they do with it in general terms. The article is meant to provide a general overview of parties’ finances.
Party Account
The Party Account balance can be seen at the top of the party page. It is similar to the country treasury except money can not be voted out of it. It can be accessed by the party president and only gold can be donated to this site, not national currency. The money comes from two sources. First any time some one runs for party president they have to make a donation of 2 gold which is credited to the account. Second anyone can just donate gold any time they want Mostly new players donate to this especially when they get there first 5 gold and not sure what to do with it. Players also donate there assets when they stop playing, like an unofficial will. I have seen this happen several times and it is usually two click players who donate small fortunes out of the blue. When the account gets low senior members of the party are usually asked for a dig out. In large countries these accounts get massive. Large accounts in very small parties also make taking over those parties more attractive. The party president should send a thank you pm to any one who donates. A list of who donated can be seen by clicking show donations on the party page.
The money in this account can only be used by the party president and access automatically changes after the election. The money is used for two things. First the game administrator takes out 5 gold (could be wrong about amount) every month as an administration fee. Second the money can be used for as many adverts as the party president wants to run and on any subject but for nothing else. Recruitment adverts on the right side of the screen are the main use, As a rule of thumb it costs about 1 gold a day per 2,000 citizens in the country. These adverts should be linked to a recruitment articles. Congress and presidential adverts can also come out of this money. Rich parties have also used this money to advertise wellness programs for the government.
I had a party president from a small party in America contact me with an offer once, he would run 10 gold of advertisements from his party account for me if I donated 3 gold to him personally. So I guess even when it is not designed to be sold everything can be sold. If you’re a party president be careful running party adverts that you choose the right account. Your personal account is the default account when paying for advertisements. Advertisements are pretty clever; they tell you how many people clicked on each advert and how many views it got. So it is easy to measure the effectiveness of advertising.
Party ORG
Most parties have an Org that is named after the party and controlled by the party president or inter circle. There is usually an official party newspaper attached to the org. Any type of money or goods can be stored in this site. A lot of parties have party companies owned by the org. The companies are used to provide moving tickets for elections. Gifts companies to help new members. Weapons to support party militias, communes for leftist parties and even house companies for new members. The money in the accounts comes from anyone who wants to donate. Make sure when you donate money to these org that they are controlled by your party and are not an org of similar sounding name and logo. Check with party president first.
