We stop being one of the big 3 in the biggest trading bloc to being another minnow with no say in the rules which govern 50% of our trade. The EU is more of a democracy than the UK. When I voted for my MEP it was the first time this century that someone I voted for got elected. I live in a safe seat so my vote is irrelevant

Only time will tell whether leaving Europe was a good move or not.

Anyway, the main idea to creating EU 70+ years ago was to prevent any wars in Europe for good. Brits don't get it how important is unity of European continet these days.
