COVID your experience

Day 4,935, 17:42 Published in Ireland United Kingdom by moomoohead
Sorry I have not wrote an article in a few days, weather was good and I bought a new car. So for todays get to know the people you are playing game with lets talk about the big story in the world the last year plus, COVID. Some people have made out good in Covid, some have had tradagy happen to them, I even imagine some in the world were not effect much by it. In the comments tell me what it was like for you.

I went into work through the whole year because somehow I am an essential worker. The chemical plant I work at made one of the ingredients that goes in the vaccine. I got quarantined twice because of exposure. I have asthma and am older, so was a little worried in beginning, but I wore masks, socially distant and washed my hands. Not fanatical but I think I was responsibly. I have been vaccinated for 3 months now and am ready for this to be over.

GOOD for ME
I did not catch it or anyone in my immediate family. I got a good bit of money in government stimulus checks and tax relief for me individually, my younger kids, and my business. I got laid off for three weeks but collected 80% pay and taught a zoom course for poor kids that I enjoyed a lot. I drank less and got in a little better shape last year.

BAD for Me
No Travel for me, went on one bad vacation by car to Missouri and one god one skiing, the last year. No travel for my daughter and mother who do not live near me. My wife uncle passing away from Covid (he had a lot of other issues). Cousins and aunt getting very sick and having to worry about them. Hearing terrible stories of death from employees. Having to be mask police at work. No live sports, bars, restaurants, and movie theaters. Paying for a year of gym membership and never using it. Sales of my ice cream shop were half last summer and I shut it down (did not have the time for side business too). Zoom/teams calls.

ADAPTING for Me
I got to gather with friends to watch football in one of there garages with the door open socially distant instead of the bar. I bought a lot of to go from locally owned restaurants, ate well this last year. I am going to shake hands a lot less in the future. Attending church on line was different

So how were things in your part of the world and what were some of your good and bad experiences?
